help me calm down.
the hose connecting the turbo to the intercooler is about shot, it keeps blowing off the turbo, the new hose is coming on thursday and it couldnt have gotten here soon enough, now on to my problem.
went out this morning to put it on again before work and i am almost positive that i dropped the socket into the sight hole in the transmission, im at a loss as to what to do now... do i need to pull the F-ing motor and trans out, is there some sort of pan that i can take off the bottom, is there anything i can do that doesnt deconstruct the whole front end? guess im taking the girls car to work and ill go back to the battlefield tonight, just looking for some help before i get back to it

There's an access panel on the bottom between the engine and trans. You may have to unbolt the engine/trans mounts and jack up the engine slightly to access it.
Good luck. I HATE it when **** like this happens. A few days ago I was doing my motor mounts, fighting like hell to get the driver's side rear bolt started, when I dropped it. It didn't hit the ground, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I figured it was caught in the steering rack linkage, but couldn't find it, so I ended up disassembling nearly the entire steering rack. Still couldn't find it. After about an hour and a half I gave up, found a replacement bolt, finally got it started and got everything buttoned back together, lowered the engine back down, bolted it up, and low and behold...the ****ing bolt was sitting in the dish on the jack that was holding up the engine. |

sometimes you can fish in with a magnet
was a post where a d000000d dropped a turbo heatshield bolt down the trans dipstick hole :eek; and fished it out with a magnet |

How are you dropping stuff into the transmission? It's all sealed up?

What?
There is an access hole on the top of the bellmounth on the transmission (don't remember if it's on the engine side or the transmission side, but either way it provides access to the flywheel, pressure plate, etc.), it's about 2" square. He dropped a socket into it. What's not to understand? |

Where the clutch fork sticks out of right?
Yea a retractable magnet pen thingy is my favorite tool when working on my subie. I always drop stuff in dark areas and the magnets gets it out. |
