I've never noticed the hill assist grab in the forward direction, unless I'm in reverse. I usually drive around pretty slow though. I'll keep an eye out for it. I have noticed the lack of synchro for reverse, not a fan. I like hill assist overall though and I've been driving a five speed for 15 years If you don't push the brake pedal hard, hill assist doesn't activate.

They are nice and all, but they also loose there value real quick. It's a Hyundai after all! A new one is like 24k. In a year or 2 the car would only be worth 19k on the high side.

Btw, did the fix the 5th gear synchro issue in the new models?

LOL you guys are making is sound like he went from EVO to Genesis. WRX isn't beautiful or smart. It's a ho-hum compact with a decent engine that does nothing well but accelerate in a straight line.

so then your 35k+ sti is a ho-hum compact? Thats a shame, thats a hell of a lot of money for a ****ty compact. Maybe trade it in and get a real car, perhaps an M3?

He would prob just say that a m3 is just a "ho-hum 3 series with a decent motor"

just curious before buying the wrx didn't you guys notice the hill assist feature in the specs, if so why the hell did you buy the car if it was that big of a problem?

Reverse, really you didn't know there is no synchro yet again RESEARCH, you can alleviate that a bit by changing to a synthetic transmission fluid otherwise 1st or 2nd then back to R.

If you hate the hill assit, clutch, R, you should just sell the car already. Its not like a lot of MTLs are coming with hill assist now oh wait they are. Doesn't matter if you are a new or old driver learn to drive the car you've got.

The WRX costs $1,500 more than a base Genesis, it's not like the GC goes for Corolla prices. And the model the OP got goes for $26,500.

i dont think they did
I answered your question, which is yes, and provided an example of how in some cases it's cheaper than getting a Subaru tuned. And you can tune them yourself, you just have to learn the program, just like any other tuning platform. But I guess you didn't like my answer because it made you seem uninformed.

When you buy a performance car with a MANUAL transmission, Hill-Assist should not be on it, PERIOD!!!! This should be an option, not a requirement, if you need Hill-Assist, go buy an Automatic! And the lack of a synchro for the reverse gear is pathetic, if these are truly performance car, they are lacking in many ways.

I also don't like that power to the windows and radio doesn't stay on after you turn the car off. The car isn't perfect but those things aren't make or break. I can still dislike it though.

You could always just disconnect the dsc control module....if you were so inclined to do so.

Lets not forget that the same people that are complaining about the hill assist feature are the same people that complained about traction control when it first came standard on cars. Now every (for the most part) car has traction control. Just like hill assist is becoming more prevalent on vehicles.

Lets keep in mind that anyone who needs Hill-Assist probably shouldn't be driving a manual to begin with, they make Automatics for those people.

It was mentioned in this thread:

I don't really mind the hill-assist. It's the first car I've ever had it on in the 12 years I've been driving manual cars and while I definitely don't need it, it doesn't bother me at all.

I've owned and EVO X and 2012 Mustang in the past 5 years so I have a good understanding that there are better cars out there for the money. The STI is an average handling sporty car and the WRX a notch below that. All I'm saying is that a Gensis coupe IMO is a step above a WRX and at the very least lateral, but certainly not a step below.
