Default Autometer Nexus gauge turns off when headlights turned on

I am hooking up a nexus boost gauge, and used the thread "Gauge Installation Electrical Wiring Tips and Pics Defi and Others" to help with the wiring. There are only 3 wires that need to be connected, a ground, a constant +12v source, and a switched 12v source that is on during engine start and crank but off when ignition switch is off. I have a 2005 sti and hooked up the constant to the blue w/ red stripe wire on the radio harness, then the switched 12v source to the green w/orange stripe on the A/C harness. Now I turn the key to the run position and the gauge works fine, I can start the car and it still reads fine, but if I turn on my headlights/parking lights the gauge immediately loses power and shuts off. If i then turn off the headlights it once again gets power. I am wondering what the problem could be, if anyone could let me know it would be of great help. Thanks
