Default Cutting wood

Random question but I know that there are alot of military guys and gals on the board.

Last year I was able to get on base with Resbum and cut up some wood.

But I don't know where the wood pile is?

Would someone sponser me get on base?

If someone else needs some wood I have a trailer, axe and chainsaw. We can work together and knock it out.

Thanks.

I am almost positive there is a "muni wood lot" down off of C street and Klatt. This is a site where people drop off cut trees and such. You should be able to go in and take as much as you want.

Yup it was in the newspaper. I think you might have to drop off some brush to get some, but as far as I know according to ADN the muni wants you to come and get the free wood. The article was titled "Anchorage's best kept secret"

I remember that article, too.

To cut wood on Elmendorf, you need a permit. I do know of area with cleared trees on Fort Richardson. I don't think you need a permit over there. There must be a couple hundred trees that have been sitting there for years.

Yeah thats the area, I was trying to remember how to get there.

What are the regs for getting on base? I will be towing a enclosed trailer if that matters.

If you take a enclosed trailer on base, they will more than likely want to search inside it. As far as needing a permit to do so on Ft Rich I'm unsure.

The lot is located directly accross from Klatt off of C St. Take C off of Old Seward and make a right when you come to the Klatt intersection (below theoverpass) you drive right into the lot. Lately I have noticed a lot more processed lumber then firewood.

Good Luck
