Help SPT exhaust hitting sway bar
I have a 2012 Wrx hatch with an SPT catback and as a result of lowering it now hits the sway bar with buzzing. It's mildly lowered on BC coilovers and appears to hit right at the exhuast bend. Any suggestions?

Hmmm is the swaybar upside down!!!
If not u could get some longer exhaust hangars from kart boy. |

Stiffer exhaust hangers that prevent movement of the exhaust could help. As could longer ones as alluded to by the above.
Or just take a BFH to that particular section of pipe and clearance it about 1cm. |

It's only upside down if Subaru put it that way. If I drop the exhaust at the muffler with extended hangers, the axle forward portion won't match up. I guess I'll have to have the exhaust redone. It's not really a pretty connection anyways.

I had no idea you could flip the swaybar! This is the first I've heard of it.

I think the bar is on right, but it doesn't seem normal that it's hitting. I ran the SPT exhaust and Whiteline sway bar (thicker than stock) and I've never had issues. I was quite low when I had that combo. I used the stock hangers. Unfortunately I don't have a photo. The only one I have on hand is with the Greddy exhaust, and there is TONS of clearance:

when you put the car on the ground, the shocks will obviously settle with load, and your bar will rotate down more. you do not have that much room with the car on the ground. |

When I installed my whiteline 24mm sway I looked at the writing on the sway in which caused me to instal it upside down and was hitting my exhaust so when I looked at my stock sway I realized that I had to flip it lol. Last edited by trev762; 10-09-2012 at 11:11 AM. |

The sedan and hatch exhausts are completely different designs and do not have the same space limitations.

Why don't you just put a few layers of exhaust wrap around the swaybar where it's making contact?
