Just installed a hitch and it worked out great. i need it for transporting my atv. I just can't get the wiring straight. Does anybody have an experience with STi and hitch wiring? What exactly do i need to purchase? Thanks!

Yes. You need to buy a Modulite. It basically splices into your taillight wiring and provides a harness to plug your trailer into. It's pretty easy honestly.

it is a standard import light module, you can get them at uhaul or walmart. get one with that does not have the module directly on the harness you plug into a trailer, it won't last a year outside the car. (the walmart one is like this, but you can get an extension to keep that part inside, and just run the extension outside)

can you get me a walmart part number or a picture of it? How much does it typically costs?
What i have so far is a 4 wire cable that connects to the trailer and a converter box that converts 5 wires into 4 because of subaur's independent turn signals. Is that all i need?

wander around the trailer area in walmart, hard to miss it..

here is the uhaul one

I've used both the walmart one and this one. This has test LED's and isn't mounted as part of the connector, the walmart one is a little cheaper, no led's, and is part of the plugin.

This is very helpful; do you remember what colors on Subaru Sti correspond to what on uhaul piece? Also, i'm assuming that i'm tapping into pass. side tail light.

For future reference, this is how I wired my 2005 STI. You should be able to read the words on the controller as well as see the wires on the car.

Default Hopkins item?

What wiring did you buy from walmart? Went to the one on Marketplace and didn't see anything that would work.

Has anyone considered the Hopkins p/n 43855? Looks like it goes from 6-pin to 4-pin for a Subaru (wrx wagon though?). Autozone and Pep Boys claim compatability...trial and error anyone?
