Smile Great news on F3000 racer Jason Watt from europe

I have just read some great news on the progress of Jason Watt.

For those of you that follow european racing, which i know some of you do, you will be awair of the tragic accident that befell Jason at the end of last year. Jason was a front runner in F3000 and heading for F1, he had a major motorcycle accident just after the season end and has been paralysed from the waiste down. There were fears for his life at the time.

The good news is that Jason has just competed for the first time in a car race since his accident, he was driving a specially modified saloon car with hand controlls. He was fastest in practice until he broke a drive shaft, he eventually qualified in 6th place for the race.

He finished 6th in the sprint race and was as high as fourth in the main event until he had a second driveshaft failure.

I think this is a remarkable achievment and brings good news at last from one of the most tragic of season ends in F3000 last year.

Just thought you guys into European racing would like to hear some good news.

That is rally amazing. I had read in Autosport that Watt may get the chance to race a modified saloon. How do they deal with safety in a case like this? Are the track martials overly aware of the fact that he can not leave the car himself in the case of an accident? I took some of my first driving lessons in a car that was modified for a handicapped person so I understand how they work. He really is a great driver. Thank you for news.
