what pads fit Rotora BBK, really..
I need some new pads again and that brings up the question, what pads other than Rotora really fits the fc4 calipers? Ive tried the HB193Z.670 Hawks mentioned before and they are to thick to fit in. Rotora sent me a drawing for specs but no recommendations from them. To the guys that have this brake kit, what have you ran that works 100%?

Rotora uses a thin version of it. Any machine shop can mill/blanchard grind them down however. Yet Hawk does make a pad that is thinner than the 18mm, the thickness they also make is 15mm -Ken Last edited by KNS Brakes; 12-07-2012 at 03:12 PM. Reason: information |

You can get StopTech Street Performance pads that are already modified to work with your calipers here:

We have found that Hawk has a thinner pad, HB193.610 which is only 15mm thick instead of .670 (17mm).
Downside of that is the 15mm version is only available in DTC-70/60 compounds. -Nick Last edited by KNS Brakes; 12-07-2012 at 03:26 PM. Reason: numbers |

Here is the thickness of the stoptech pad, 17.3mm is even thicker than the Hawk .670 thickness. -Nick |

The pads are actually based off the D1001 pad shape...this was discussed in another thread previously but a quick search did not bring it up:

Any of you guys have information on replacing rotors for their bbk kit? Their rotors are larger then the stock wrx rotors and are the 2piece style that came in the bbk kit. 330x30mm, $250 each through rotora.......;(

I think most people have replaced the whole kit rather than deal with weird rotors and pads.

^ You sure are a lot of help in this thread. ddavisgt did the pads work? I'm working to try to find other rotors that will fit the brakes. I think with the smaller pads you could fit a 330x32mm rotor, but i haven't confirmed yet.

The Stoptech pads worked great. I never looked more into rotors since I dont need them yet, but if you find some let me know. Would be good to know when the time comes.

I had rotoras, guessing same 4-pots..
Someone told me it's the same caliper as the '00 Viper, Jaguar XK-R and the Ferrari F-40!! And yes, I believe some shaving of the pad is required... |

Stoptech has their basic ST40 caliper in many, many applications, but the pistons, mounting brackets, and rotors are tuned for each application. It increases common parts making volume ordering cheaper. It also makes for less confusion during assembly. It also allows a common pad shape across a lot of applications. In the end it's just easier to utilize a common design wherever possible. |
