Default Difference Between Forester And Wrx Gearbox?

Is there a difference between a forester and wrx gearbox in relation to a 2001 bugeye wrx?
Will a forester box fit and work in a 02 wrx?

Is there a difference in gear ratios? If so does anybody know?

Thanks,

I know that foresters have a shorter final drive. I think they are 4.11 vs 3.9 in the WRX (3.7 for 06-07).

because it would be stupid to think someone on here might have a forester or enough loyalty to the company to buy an impreza and a forester.

I have one in my car....... the final drive is 4.44 in only some years of the 5 speed and alot of the autos. They do come in 4.11 also and is more common in the 5 speeds. The gearing is the same otherwise so there is still a big gap from 1st to 2nd but the 4.44 helps alot still. After i did mine i figured out the a 05 LGT trans and rear end would be a better option as the gears are cloaser and final drive is 4.11. But if you have a good deal on a forester trans its a decent option but you will need the rear end too of coarse. What year is the forester trans your looking at?
It bolts right up.... rear end fit right in no axle issues or anything. My wrx clutch and flywheel worked. It's basically the same trans with different FD and 1:1 center transfer gears instead of the stupid 1.1:1 transfer gears the wrx has.
We put a wrx lsd in the front of the forester trans so it worked with my front axles but normally the forester does not have axle stubs so i believe you will need forester front axles unless you swap front diffs like we did.
Hope this helps

Its a 2001 bugeye wrx, in AUS they started in 2001.

And yes we have forester's and forester gt's available here in AUS.

I raised this quesiton because i just had my clutch replaced with a exedy sports tuff heavy duty clutch, dunno if you guys have heard of that brand there, but when they pulled it apart they found that its a actual forester gearbox in the car.

Well being that you are not in the US, all your trans could be geared defferntly then ours but if you have the trans code we can find what gearing you do indeed have.......
