Again - bad camera, lazy cameraman. Too busy driving.

mmm, Mission in the rain.
Been there before.

Looks like a good day for the track. Lots of seat time, and some pretty quick cars.

Is that blue painters tape on the s2000? Wonder how long it took him/her to do that?

Yeah, I had a Canon 30D with telephoto lens ready to bring out ... but with the rain, I opted not to. Nice try in the rain - you make my car look insanely fast!

Did anyone get a proof from the Driving Unlimited photographer?

Some stats:
1) By my caculations, we had just under 90 minutes of lapping time total

2) That was about 60 laps.

3) NASIOC cars out there included 8 STis, 6 WRXs and a subaru-powered Porsche. MY friend in a FWD Type R also managed to keep up very nicely - for some reason even more so than last year in the dry! We also had a grand am, a passat synchro, a CRX, S2000, and lotus elise.

One of those was me... with the instuctor in the car too...

There are times that letting the car go around is safer than trying to recover. That is one thing I have certainly learned from auto-x. Of course, if you can catch the spin quick enough and get back aligned with the way you wish to go, great! However, I was not able to recover in time in this case.

/\ Damn turn 4 eh!!! /\ In the dry you have to stay on the throttle to keep the car planted but in the wet that turn was just wild. There is a slight elevation change right at the apex where you can actually crank on the steering wheel & get absoutly no directional change. I specifically pointed that out to James when he was with me as I havn't experienced being able to do that lap after lap before. Lower speed in the rain is more exciting then higher speed's in the dry. I'm almost certainly faster around mission in the dry now after having experienced it in the wet.

only 3 times, ONLY 3!!! twice at turn 7, once at 4
i got to stand out and speak for myself now LOL

i'm glad i went that day. to be frank i was a little worried but i think i learned about my car a lot more than i could in dry. to answer the previous question, it took me 1/2 hour to put the tape on. and it leaves no nothing afterwards. it's great stuff although it is not really necessary on that track

Both of your turn 7 spins were right in front of me. You had a very funny look on your face as you were going around. Big smile + WTF + oh well.

The guy in the 240 had a wild day too. No total spins I think, but super loosey goosey.

I almost came across the grass after turn 4 about 10 times.

He had a quick spin past 3 in the morning in front of me, right after I spun on the previous lap in the same spot.

That's the turn he got loose in all day.

Blue WRX = like the profile says.

That CRX was quick all day. I think I saw one of the DU guys saying how fast it was.

Yeah, major understeer in the wet in turn 4 appeared to turn into snap oversteer a few times from what I could see. Justin (impulse777) had the wheel cranked fairly hard in turn 4 every lap...waiting for the understeer to end, as he commented to me about it lap after lap. Great fun though!

I didn't spin out, but I have ran wide on turn 4 and turn 7 There's plenty of room off to the side so I decided it was safer to go around the gates. RE92 FTW

minifreak - Even the instructor who drove your car commented on the limiting factor of RE92s aftewards! I remember feeling that too. I loved AWD when I got the car, but the RE92s had to go a week later. HUGE difference with summer tires. They are the single best first mod for the WRX. Them being new, you might get $200 for them if you sold them! That'll buy one tire!

The CRX is my brother's car. Built B16A - ported/polished heads, aftermarket cams, CAI, caged w/OMP seats . . . list of mods is too long for me to remember. Anyway, dyno'd at something like 165 at the wheels, so figure 195-200hp at the crank.

Yup, definately a good day in the wet.

Thanks to Alasdair and the Driving Unlimited gang for doing a great job in organizing and putting on the event.

For those that I didn't get to meet, my name is Geremy and I was in the 04 White STi with the blue windshield banner.

I have been selling Subaru's at Specialty Motorcars for over 3 years and I've been involved in motorsports for 20 years.
I am a former Chief Instructor of a racing school in Indianapolis as well as a PDC and ProFormance instructor.

Stop by the store sometime and we'll talk racing......G.T.

P.S. not sure exactly how to post images but I have a few track day pics as well.

Sorry about the bump . . .

Did anyone else order photos from the Driving Unlimited photographer (Richard?)

I ordered a photo on October 4th and I still haven't gotten it yet.

He hasn't cashed my cheque (which is good), but it shouldn't take 2 months to get a print of a digital image!

Update:

Here's the picture that Richard took:
