Default Who wants to make some easy money for some simple exhaust work?

I've got a singleport EJ22, and I want some headers. I'm really iffy about the Borlas due to constant reports of their build quality and not to mention their ridiculous $425 price tag. So, I was curious if somebody could fabricate me some stainless headers of the same design as Borlas (unequal length).

Also, I'm looking for somebody to fabricate a pipe to replace the two catalytic converters on my singleport 97 2.2 AWD Impreza coupe. All it need to be is the following:

stainless steel
have both o2 bungs
have header mounting flange
have midpipe mounting flange
2" od piping (oem exhaust od)

It's as simple as that. The pipe I'm wanting should be quite interchangable between numerous NA scoobies, so many people should be able to fabricate it on their own car and ship it to me if need be it. I'm also willing to take my car to you if you insist. If you want some easy money and a big thanks, I'm very interested in providing!

Also, if you can do both, then by all means go ahead and make the headers and catless pipe one single piece if you think that would be better.

My guess...

You will not find anyone to do that for less than it would cost just to buy the Borlas.

I agree with DrinkAV8

Got my Borla single port w/welded flex flange (to prevent cracking) for $150 shipped.

Mated to a Randon Tech cat I picked up for $150 shipped.

I have a CEL, but when the time comes for emissions, I'm swapping the OEM headers and cat pipe back in to pass.

It's all on my 2.2 '00 L:

This would be no easy task to make the header. The flanges, the welder, the pieces of tubing. Then getting it to fit correctly.

The leg work invlolved getting everything you'd need to do this job for someone else would cost quite a bit.

pfft. if you were using an up-pipe and priced headers, teh Borlas would seem quite reasonable

^^^ yeah, that's why I used the word 'if', like 'if his car was turbo'd and was using an up-pipe'

# of pipes on header/header going directly to mid-pipe were my clues.

Heck, I didn't even realize that RS's were n/a til THIS PHOTO...

I have the cobb equal length headers on my RS mated to stromung catback. The cobb headers are really nice, but they are pricey. The borlas are cheap compared to other ones out there.

personally, id rather have someone here fabricate them for the same price. i can weld up anything that might crack, but i just dont have the means to bend pipe here.

Bent pipes are easy to get. Flanges are the pita. See if you can find stainless header flanges for your subaru. If you can't then you have to have them made. You can order stainless bends, straights, collectors and other flanges and o2 bungs from Jeg's, summit, etc...

If you want to do the leg work I'll help you out. I have a tig welder and a chop saw. I'm telling you though, it's quite a bit more difficult than it looks.

If you're interrested shoot me a p.m. I've been looking forward to making some headers for a while now.
