Crazy numbers. Especially at 20psi! On 93 too!

So happy we finally have a car coming up with Evo-like numbers.
26psi on a turbo that can make 900+whp vs 30s on a turbo that will max around 700-750.. Also missile made over 670

This car is not making 600+ on 20psi
it creeps to 26psi

Either way it makes it so easy... e85 @ 30psi and I wont be shocked to see 750whp... Then we go to 40psi

Ahhh, that makes more sense. 20psi seemed a little too good to be true for 630whp on a 4 cyl.

Got to get the OP to change the boost to 26+ PSI. My applause for posting the real boost in bold. 20 PSI to achieve 600WHP is not mathematically possible with the displacement of this motor, turbo size, and airflow. How do you like the AEM V1 on the Subies? To be honest, I have not liked them at all. The AVCS(not needed here) control is not very good. Have you tried the VIPEC at all? I have heard good things there.

The OP stated he wanted to change the wastegate to hold boost better. I think he needs a different gate to control boost better. Sounds like it is creeping due to gate size or design.

Do you think is it the size of the gate or is the design favoring the turbo? Sometimes the gate positioning can lead to creep. If you are able to split the flow as equally as possible on the up-pipe you can get a little better response from the smaller gates.

Is this going to be a drag only car or is it going to see some street driving?

Keep up the good work, and enjoy the car. I hope the OP has some experience with high HP cars that come in late. This will be a bit to handle for an inexperienced driver. It will def. light up the tires in the early gears.

Cheers.

^^^john where have you been during xdrian's whole build---I thought you were familiar with him since you are kinda in the same area---this IS xdrians personal car and he and Jr. know waaayyy more than you do in this kind of build so quit being so critical on his build.Believe me Xdrian definitely knows how to drive high hp suby's and Jr is the tuning whiz when it comes to a drag set-up.

Actually, I am not sure if I know Xdrian. I may, I just did not know his username vs real name.

I suggested the OP be careful because we just has a massive tragedy here in the NY area. 4 teens were killed in an STI. I was actually looking out for Junior, since I did not know who the OP was. So, maybe you should think before swinging in to protect someone.

I assure you, my knowledge base is far more extensive than you have any idea. Junior will back that up, as I helped him out very early in the Subaru game when I was in Utah. He and I are on good terms and he does not need anyone trying to protect him.... there was no attack. Your ignorant statements were necessary and off base.

I was not being critical at all. I was not even bashing anyone. I was pointing out junior did the right thing correcting the boost numbers. I then asked about the design of the gate and what he thought the cause of the creep was. Nothing more nothing less.

The reason we have posts like this is to discuss the build, and that is what I was doing.

I had a 38mm on here, The header design was a 4-2-1 so it has a 1.5 scroll up-pipe with the gate right at the top. The 38 is way too small for this setup, so we are replacing it with a 44mm.

I have some experience driving high HP cars, and I drive this car almost on a daily basis. Took it to school yesterday, and a spirited cruise around town. Im no newbie nor am I a reckless teen. This little 600hp car doesnt scare me. When this car makes 800 then ill need a diaper to drive it.

And the V1 is mint with this car, starts right up and runs the car well. We arent using avcs in the car at all, I would have to run a jdm harness or run wires for the avcs but its not necessary with my build.

The orientation of the gate in relation to the turbo is what I was referring to. It should look like a 'Y', where the two legs of the Y represent the turbo and gate, so they get equal flow. It sounds like you have that under control. Did you consider going twin scroll? It might be pretty easy to convert the Up Pipe and then you could do twin 38MM MVS, and go with a twin scroll turbine housing. That might be a pretty cool project. Just a thought though.

I knew you would not use the AVCS on the AEM V1, so I assume it works well for your application.

I see that you got the 44mm on there. Did it alleviate the creep?

What are you shooting for with this project? Low 10s...maybe 9s'? That would be pretty nice. Either way it looks like it is fun to drive.

Once you get it sorted out, why don't you and Junior bring the car to Akuma. We can do a few dyno pulls to compare the numbers...Mustang V DJ. Obviously, there will be no charge. I could then figure out what correction factor I should set the dyno at to get it reading more in line with the rest of the community. Just a thought.

Regards,

John

Love this car, who assembled the motor?

I know at one point you had a treadstone intercooler core, did you max it out or why did you change it?

Roman(NightShift Performance) assembled the block, Headgames assembled the heads and I believe Adrian/Vince put the longblock together.

No need for Dyno comparisons as this car will hit the strip and the power numbers will be obvious. Cars with this kind of power should not be on a dyno long. Not good for car/dyno or neighbors!

I think the creep was alleviated since we put the new gate on the car. Gonna put the car back on the dyno to retune for pump again then put some e85 on turn it up a bit more.

If this car doesn't go 9's ill burn it, lol.

Still have the treadstone core. I doubt this car will max it out.

We can figure something out. I'll gladly bring the car by and do a pull or two. But track numbers first !

What's wrong with the AVCS on the V1? the control is unstable or just limited?

Also I don't know for sure but wouldn't single scroll be the best option for a drag car at this displacement/turbo size. What a/r is you back housing 1.06? Not sure you could obtain a twin scroll housing for the 67mm that will flow as well around the turbine and out the down pipe. Not that this car has much of an exhaust system

Any update on the beast yet man? I'm like a little kid waiting for candy at someones door step lol.
