Default MA Vehicle Inspection changes

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but in a few groups on facebook people have been talking about the new vehicle inspection equipment that inspection shops are getting in october. Most people are freaking out about the cameras and that anything that isn't 100% stock is going to fail inspection. I personally don't think that as I have yet to see any proposed legislation that deals with changing our vehicle inspection laws.

Just wanted to hear what everyone (or anyone) thinks about this.

Sry to say, but if anything isn't stock...

RIDE HIGHT, EXHAUST, TINT....

Unless you have a regular inspection place, goooooooood luck

Even this march I had trouble with the nameless deletes and tint. Next year I may put my mufflers back on for inspection.

It going to get nothing but worse.. Don't sell you stock parts unless your sure you know what you are doing

That is all

None of those are a problem unless you're a tool and have an unsafe vehicle that is far too low, far too loud or far too dark.

This. Unless it's blatant that your vehicle scrapes, sets off car alarms, and you can't see out of it at High Noon... You don't need to worry.

is there a breakdown of what exactly this entails?

No intakes, no forced induction mods, car cant be lowered more than 2" from stock?

if these are really held up, I'm screwed because I have all that crap.

Also from what I hear, these new rules apply to all vehicles from all years? That makes no sense at all.

what about swapped engines? does this mean my dream of a 1985 Volvo wagon with a LSx swap is dead?

god damnit MA.

EDIT: so, no new changes to the law, just systems and cameras to enforce it.

meh! Still crap.

I think everyone needs to simply stop panicking over nothing.

This is definitely time to panic. Even if you have a collector vehicle that may have some smoke or an oil drip or some component that's been changed in the last 50 years that may cause it to fail - then what? MA is not an car friendly state and this is just pathetic. It isn't right to impose this on the inspection stations either. I fought this before it went in and our government needs to hear from more of us. Please do more than complain and vent on web sites - Call your reps!!!!

Any updates on this? I've been reading a lot about it but haven't experience it myself. Got a new sticker at the end of September to avoid headaches for at least a year haha

There's been a lot of problems with systems not clearing people that should clear, stickers not printing correctly and a lack of communication between the RMV and testing stations. There's been multiple pictures and threads made on one of the groups that branched off of MassTuning where updates are being made.

Apparently the person who got the contract/signed it got like $138k because the contract went "off without a hitch and on time".

LOL.

Sorry, I'm going to go puke now.

Outsourcing to the lowest bidder, this is not a surprising result. In a few months most of the issue will be resolved, roll with it.

The rules didn't change, they are just going to enforce them more strictly now, and even that is still unclear. The primary change are some electronic nannies to keep a record of things like matching VIN number, front and rear plates. It looks like the biggest issue will be guys with trucks lifted more than 3", which is fine by me as I don't like being blinded by their headlights nor the idea of their bumpers passing over mine and barreling into the cabin in an accident.

If you wanted your reps to help you the time was before the law was passed and enacted.

This will "bake in" for a few years, we'll stop complaining about it, and speed cameras will follow. But who cares, the speed limits haven't changed, right?
