Default Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS recalled

According to What Car?, Porsche isn't immune to the recall woes that normally plague much larger automakers. The article states that 43 911 GT3s and their harder-core RS siblings are suffering from faulty seatbelts. The optional six-point belt's unlocking mechanism apparently won't come loose, causing concerns that if a crash were to take place, the occupants wouldn't be able to escape the vehicle without the belts being cut.

Porsche will be contacting the owners of said 911s to arrange a date for inspection. Unfortunately, the website What Car? referred to for further information, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), didn't have any details about what specific models were affected and in what part of the world the vehicles were sold. As soon as we get more information, we'll update this post.

Geez, I just picked mine up and now I have to return it?! Porsche makes such pieces of crap. This is the last straw. I'm turning it in for an F430.

6 point harnesses aren't standard. and it hasnt shown up on my campaign listings yet - I just looked and all I see is how to install the 6point harnesses

The six-point seat belt is not fitted for the Club Sport equipment when the vehicle is delivered.
Note

Six-point seat belts are intended only for competitive use.
Three-point belts must be fastened when driving on public roads.
The legally permissible procedure must be queried with the relevant national importer.

I can think of worse things than being trapped in Porsche 911 GT3. Post crash would kinda suck though.

We had a car accident this week where it rolled and then caught fire, we had one occupant trapped inside. The driver needs to go buy a lottery ticket, we happened to be doing our weekly training a half mile away and had all of the truck out and all of our gear on. If we'd have gotten there a minute later, she'd have had it. Her feet were burned but we got her out. If it had been any other night, she wouldn't have made it.

I firmly believe that all cars should come with a fire extinguisher. They are all of $10 on sale at home depot, and in an emergency it could save lives/car. It could also save someone elses life/car.

Seriously, these are giant metal boxes going fast and being powered by controlled EXPLOSIONS with a box of liquid bomb under the car feeding it.

But holy ****...it better have enough cup holders!

yah, but the Gov., knowing the seat belts were faulty, chose not to belt up.......probably saved his life.

I'm a firm believer in it too, but in my particular case the officers who got there before we did emptied theirs and still didn't knock it down. And she was in no shape to try and use one inside the car. Sometimes you bite the bear, sometimes the bear bites you.

On a related note, magnesium steering columns are spectacular when you hit them with water when they're burning. Boom!

I havent seen any PCNA confirmation of the recall, and from above it only applies to 6point harnesses which arent installed by the factory - they're installed at the dealer by their techs.
