engine swap: won't rev: why?
Hi,
I did the engine conversion by myself. 99 JDM STi motor on 94 did wiring by myself too. The motor started up but won't rev more than 3000rpm 3000rpm is just around when the vacuum turns to boost. It sounds like speed/rev limiter but don't know why it does that. Runs fine upto 3000rpm ECU is Apex PowerFC. I set the rpm at 7800 MAF is Nissan 300ZX idle is fine. TPS seems to be working (giving correct voltage) I have Blitz boost controller on it. I have stock 94 guage cluster (tach doesn't work because of that. Using Apex monitor to check the Rev) Using stock 94 wiring harness for the most of the part any idea why it's not reving? i appreciate any info. thanks

300ZX maf is only compatible because i use Apex-i PowerFC stand alone ECU.
Apex ECU has map for 300ZX maf sensor. |

wiring is tough. finished the swap in half a day but taking 3 months to do the wiring..
My Nissan friend said it could be the speedo sensor, anybody know about this issue? My car is 94, which uses cable speed sensor... My motor and ECU is 99 and the speedo sensor for 99 is electric. If I put the electric sensor, would I be able to solve the rev problem? |

Sounds like the car is in limp mode. But you are not using the stock ecu right?
I think the answer lies in the settings you have in the Power FC. I had a similar problem when I was setting up the speed limit cut with the Apex'i RSM. Also double check the MAF wiring and condition of the MAF. A blown MAF will not allow the car to go on boost. On pre 2002 cars you can disconnect the speed sensor and it will not go into limp mode. The Idle Air Control valve won't work properly though. |

fwiw the 300z maf is the same as a 1.8 subaru maf
i don't think it has to do with the speed sensor/ dash, should be seperate .. how much can you monitor with the power fc? is there software for it. can you see the voltage comming out of the maf change when you rev the engine? scobaru: no jdm engines are OBD-2 compliant even the newest ones |

I have a Ver. 4 STi speed sensor if you need it. Just email or pm me whenever you find out.
