the ACT clutches hold really, really well. But they are a bit chattery in the earlier WRX's for daily driving. I don't like ACT flywheels. I have an ACT clutch and Exedy flywheel combo and it seems to work great.
If you are looking for a good smooth daily driver clutch, the Spec clutches seem to have worked really well in most of the vehicles i have put them in, good (stock-like) pedal feel with decent holding power. They won't compare to the ACT as far as brute strength though. |

The only input I can give is, don't get a Clutchmasters.
The one I have won't even hold as good as the stock. Hotrod, What kind of deal are you talking? |

I really like the Stage 1 Exedy organic clutch and ACT StreetLite flywheel setup on my wagon. No slipping, and no shuddering, stock feel.

Id go with the act set-up. Act 2600 street is has great clamping power. I paired mine up with a sprung 6puck and it rips

I've got a Spec stage 1 and a Gruppe-S lightweight flywheel. I think the Spec would be fine for the mods you have, but I think I've got a bit too much HP on mine and should have gone with the stage 2.

A new stock clutch, IMO, is the way to go, if you're only at Stage 2 amounts of torque. Good compromise of clamping ability (it's got plenty) and driveability. If you're really motivated, a lightweight flywheel.

I used to have ACT Heavy Duty installed on mine. Too stiff for my leg. Stop and go traffic is an absolute nightmare. It will slip if you launch your car @ 18psi. Done that at the tracks. Now I am using ClutchMasters Stg 3 (FX300-Steel Back Kevlar). Feels like stock and bites as hard as the ACT but no slip. If your tranny is still stock, be careful launching hard. My .02 cents...

Stock Exedy Organic clutch. Cheap and cheaper than a new tranny.

yeah I've got the exedy stage 1. Feels stronger than the stock one, but only marginally.
at the end of the day I'd much rather replace a fried clutch than a busted tranny.....I got mines on e-bizzay for 2 bills shipped.... |
