2010 WRX Power steering fuild around reservoir
I was cleaning up the engine bay when I notice that there was power steering fluid around the PS reservoir. I also notice it was way beyond the max fill point for both cold and hot.
I had my car to the dealer for a couple of oil changes, but they made no mention of topping off the fluid. It seems like the fluid is almost forcing itself out of the reservoir at the seam of the tank near the bottom. I know the fluid expands when warm, but I didn't think it would build so much pressure to leak like that. I'm going to find something to pull the over-filled fluid out (Turkey baster won't fit). Has anyone else seen this on their 2008+ car? (Searched and didn't find anything).

The car has about 8k miles on it. I'm thinking either the reservoir is filled up to much and when sealed is forcing the PS fluid out the seams in the tank, or some jackass at the dealer thought it was a good idea to add fluid and spilled it everywhere. I'm going to have them look at it the next time I'm in there, although I'm not sure how much more work I want them doing on my WRX...

at some point you may have boiled over the fluid. I noticed the same thing after an event. i was checking my brake pads and noticed fluid on a clip in the wheel well, then i saw several table spoons of fluid around the reservoir. not sure how spirited of driving you do but i'm going to switch over to synthetic fluid to avoid this from happening, if that doesn't work then a cooler.
