Some people aren't car people and don't understand that some cars are louder than others. I've had a wrx and a swapped FXT. They were both pretty loud APS turboback and JNA catback catless. I never drove fast through my nieghborhood because thre are lots of kids and dogs, but there is nothing I can do about how loud my car was. It is my choice and right to change my car. I understand being respectful but they only have to hear the car for a few minutes. I think people need to suck it up. I think Harley's or other bikes are much louder than most modified cars. I was tearing apart my Forester to part it out and I got a letter from the town that I couldn't work on my own car in the my driveway. I told the town to shove it. Some rules and people are absolutely ridiculous and I choose not to follow them.

I honestly don't care about the car noise. Speeding down my street is my bigger concern. Neighbors complaining are the same one's out with their snow blower going at 4am or sawing down a tree at 6am. I don't complain. I work an off shift and just because my hours don't align with theirs doesn't make it right. Suck it up is what I say. If you want a quieter neighborhood move somewhere a half mile off the road.
I remember staying at my Granmdas house at times in Pittsburgh and she lived next to the police station. I guess she should've sent them a note when they turned on their sirens. Someone sitting in the driveway revving the engine is one thing, but if the person starts the car and leaves or comes home and turns it off it isn't that big of a deal. |

You're lucky you didn't pull that Rambo hero ish in my neighborhood. The next one to be "taken care of" would've been you. |

To be sure, of course I would shoot a dog in self defense or in defense of another person if it was attacking. I wouldn't like it, but I'd do it. However, if I knew beforehand that a particular dog was a problem, I'd call animal control/police/authorities. I wouldn't wait for the dumb**** owner to let his dog free so I could shoot it.
Unfortunately, if the dog was captured by animal control, my best guess is that it would end up being euthanized anyway considering its aggressiveness. |

The dog could luck out and end up in a no-kill shelter. Small chances are better than being 100% shot in the face. Though I'm just backseat coaching here. I wasn't in geronimo81's position and I'm sure he just did what he thought was the best COA at the time for the future safety of his wife.

Your disregard for human life is a little disturbing. Maybe you should wake up to reality and understand that when it does come down to a potentially life threatening situation you may have to do something you don't like to protect your family. My guess is that you don't have a family though since you fail to understand the gravity of the situation. |

In that case, it seems like you did what you had to do. People suck sometimes. Lots of dog owners shouldn't own dogs. Through their bad ownership, they end up sculpting really mean animals or really really scared animals, or both. And they do it over and over again with different dogs. Why.

Not second-guessing your decision here, like I said, I wasn't in your position. Just a bit sad as a dog owner that's all.

Just gonna throw this out there: People lie on the internet. Or they forget to tell the entire truth - same difference.

I'm 100% on board for protecting my family on my property, but is this what happened? Shooting an aggressive dog on public property sounds a little extreme. I would have tried Animal Control to find a solution.
That being said, I was not in that situation, so I cannot speculate. Just my opinion. In full disclosure, I am a "freak dog owner" of a Weimaraner and Boxer. |

Just to be clear, I love dogs. I always had dogs growing up. The only reason we don't have a dog right now is that we are renters. I also never stated that I shot the dog, let alone on public property. No I will not share specific details of how I did it.

Why would the police have to wait until the dog attacked again if it had already attacked multiple people? Seems like you left out some details there Rambo. Did you tell the dog that if we was roaming around you were going to "take care of him"? Maybe you two could have worked something out... You probably should have just shot the owner and put the dog up for adoption... Seems like he was the one at fault, no need to take it out on the animal. Why even bring up a story like this? You want to look cool for the forum? IIRC this thread was about neighbors and loud cars. Then suddenly you killed a dog... We gotcha Geronimo, you're a bada##, nobody messes with you...
