Default Blown Engine?

i have an 07 sti, 73k miles, i did an oil change 1868 miles ago to correct level, last time i checked it was like a week and 1/2 before this happened

soooo i was driving around 85 mph...
i noticed alot of smoke comming out of my exhaust thru the mirror i slowed down then realized their was also white smoke comming out of my hood
engine light started flashing.
i put in neutral and rolled off the freeway, popped my hood and saw that dip stick was blown out with white smoke comming out, oil was spilled all over that half of the motor
i checked oil dip stick, NO oil in it...
the oil looks like it has coolant in it

its my only car, im a student, not alot of money

how can i fix? without paying 6K at a shop

If you have the knowledge(or have friends that do), do all the labor you can yourself.
(I.E. remove block from car, disassemble block, ETC) It'll save you money but rebuild is still gonna cost you lots of money depending on what needs to be replaced.

sounds like a headgasket, but whatever, do what hondu says, get something you can drive for $500 (or less) you can sell it for the same when your car is fixed.

i dont have much knowledge when it comes to that, im sure i can pull the motor tho

and yes i was thinking of buying a new daily

anyonw have a toyota 22r for sale?

I just did a head gasket. I did a lot of other stuff while I was in there too.

Spent about $1500 but did all they work at my house. (Aside from the valve job)

does mine sound like a head gasket? i mean their was no oil shown on the dip stick
i know you cant really tell me over the web
i guess i just have to do compresssion/ leak down test?
it wasnt over heating

Welcome to the world of performance cars ....I learned the hard way about stuff like this my first car was a turbo rotary...
Sounds like a head gasket , you might as well get in there and rebuild the engine at that kind of mileage.
6k is kinda high though shop around first.

any recomendations as to where to shop?
i have asked AWDtuning and engine logics 1st

any private guys out their who know what they are doing?

6k for an oem rebuild? That's too high.

Hmm just get friends with tools, and do the work yourself.

No use for paying someone 3-4k in labor when you can save that.

Then you'll know how to do it in the future, and have side jobs to get extra cash.

Yeah. Yank the engine yourself at least. That should save a lot of labor dollars. Then you can see what your working with and decide to rebuild or just buy another engine.

Yes you need to run a compression and then leakdown test to determine what is wrong with your STI. Everything else is a guess.

Sounds like a case of the head gaskets.

Yeah can, get a good short block w forged rods and pistons for 2.5-3.5k. Depending on the builder. Another 1-1.5k in misc parts. I am anal so I'd put all new parts on a built motor.

You have yourself a solid 475-500hp capable motor. Considering you do the work yourself.

Otherwise you are at the pitty of crappy machine shops that chase you out of their shop w a cam shaft for telling them that they do half ass work.

blown oil dip stick..way excessive crank case pressure.
totaled head gasket or cracked cylinder..depending on if
you oil is still good or chocolate milk shake..

either way it not going to be cheap..

Try checking the oil again, but this time pull the rubber o-ring off before sliding the dipstick back down. There's a well known Subie issue with the air pressure caused by the o ring seating causes inaccurate readings. Just make sure you put it back on when you're done. White smoke is never good, no oil is never good, smoke in the engine bay is never good. A new shortblock will run you about $2000, may want to have the heads sent out and port and polish while you have it apart.
Take your oil pan off the old motor and check for metal shards, if you find any, start shopping for a new turbo as well because there's a decent chance some have made it through the oil lines.

6k built motor with labor, said he will install my 30r rotated kit at that price too, plus tune

yea thats my best bet, but the friends/family that can dont have time

damn, if turbo is pooped i will just install the 30r
