Default Cooling system question

03 WRX, 70,XXX miles. I just had my radiator/ a/c condensor replaced after some metal pipe went through my bumper ( 1 month ago), car came back fine.. Two days ago, I noticed the smell of coolant through my A/C system, which was on vent. I also noticed coolant on top of the block, under neath the turbo inlet pipe. I checked all the hoses from the little heat exchanger thingy, and all seemed fine.

Anyone have any idea what this could be? All the hoses are intact, coolant levels are fine, and the car does not over heat. I wouldnt normally worry about this problem, except for the fact that there is a considerable ammount of coolant filling that recess.

Thanks

Edit: There is no oil in the coolant/ coolant in the oil.

I take it you mean that everything was replaced 1 month ago and now this problem shows up.

What did you do when you checked all the hoses? Did you just look @ them or did you check all the connections by trying to see if they were tightened down properly?

It is not uncommon for new hoses to need re-tightening after a short period because the hose material compresses & the clamps could therefore have loosened up, causing the pool of coolant on top of the block. (Well, the clamps don't actually loosen, but since the hose material compresses, the hose clamps are no longer as tight as they were @ time of installation.)

But then you said that the coolant levels are fine, so it sounds as if, perhaps, what you are seeing is spilled coolant from the original work.

I checked and re-tightened every coolant line that I could find, and made sure not to over tighten. Since I would tend to smell the coolant after boosting, I was worried about an HG, but I havent seen any loss of power or other tell tale signs of a blown HG.

Thanks for the help!
