Intake plumbing hose (after CAI, B4 Turbo)
How hard would it be to have someone fabricate the piece that goes after the CAI or stock airbox and leads up to the turbo? I just can't see paying some of the high prices for those pieces when I could possibly have one made out of silicone or even stainless steel with a silicone neck to connect it to the turbo. Is this feasable, if so, how where should I go to inquire about it and how would I figure out the dimensions? I will need specifications, measurements, # of bungs if any, and I won't be needing the recirculator hose from the stock blow off valve. Thanx

Samco makes a nice one for a little over 250 dollars. A nice price, as far as I am concerned... you could make a pipe I guess too.

I have the above mentioned pipe... i think they are going to be closer to 300 though... anyway, it was a royal pain to put in, and my friends and i have taken to calling it the blue death hose...
sometimes they call it the blue hose of death, but thats kind of a mouthfull Come to think of it, the night Al was putting his in, i got 2 or 3 email's asking for advice and help. So you know it was a royal pain if Al was asking me for help. Only other person i know that has done one of these is Mark at turboxs. He did an STI version for Willie. He called to ask for tips, and i told him that it was not going to be fun... I spoke to him a few days later, and he basically said exactly what i said... its a royal pain to put in... -Nathan |

So much of a pain it involves removing the intake manifold? That's what I've been hearing personally... but I just heard the gains were fantastic. -Bryan |

I'll be working on an alluminum one to eliminate the possibility of collapsing with high boost. Should have a prototype finished by X-Mas.

Nathan, you already got your Samco? I didn't think Forge would be shipping them for a few weeks yet...wiggy!
So, what's the scoop, can you collapse it and stuff it under the manifold or not? I've been debating it since I ordered it. god, you can just get an intake spiral from a nissan dealership. Looks like a big coil. It works great, and doesn't get rid of the vibration dampening and lack of heat absorption of the samco. take care, rob |

Guys, i got mine from BPM.
We had to destroy the stock one to get it out, and then tried to collapse it to fit under the manifold. Its just a bit too stiff, and has too many return lines on it to really make that an option (at least for me) so we had to lift the manifold up just a bit to get it to sit right. Even at that i ended up buying a BOV from mark because the BOV return line didn't really fit right, and the place where it returns into the inlet pipe was bent against the manifold just a bit... so i just capped it off there and put a BOV that vents to atmosphere on the car. I also had to modify it to fit with my injen intake. This peice is designed to go to the air box and replace everything before that... the injen intake kind of overlaps it as it is designed to go to the stock inlet tube. I had to cut the inlet hose down some to make it work, and then you have to fit a catch can to your WRX as there are not enough places for the crank case to return to the inlet... it was worse then the injector install or the turbo install by far... So much so that the rest of the WRX's around here will NOT be getting this upgrade. We are just going to wait for the up-pipe and downpipe that will turn the turbo so you can run a pipe on the otherside of the manifold... -Nathan |

When you have to cut the samco hose, you loose one of the barbs that the crank case vents back to... so you need to fit a chatch can and not vent the crank case back to the intake tract. -Nathan |

I also have BPM/SAMCO turbo inlet pipe and it is a pain in the booty to install. I simply cut my stock one in two halves and yanked it out. There is NO way to remove it withouth either cutting it or taking the manifold off.
Spool up is better. Response is better. Top end is better. But, it doesn't fit right. It was designed for GC8 WRX. I am going to be getting rid of mine, so if anyone wants it, $250 and it is yours. I have something in the works for myself. -Alex |

Hy, I got a BPM turbo inlet pipe in without removing the manifold but I had to cut the tubes coming out of the old one, it's the most difficult mod I had to do for my car, it tool me about 4hours and a lot a patiente and you need to have small hands.
It's a bitch to install but it fits perfectly with the APS intake. Do it if you are very patient or just get the Injen intake that remove the plastic rubber, I don't think the plastic inlet pipe is that restrictive. Enjoy your subi |

This is the only piece I am dreading putting on my car. I am going to wait for a while and see if another company makes one that fits better. If not I may just have to suck it up and give it a try.

Blue death pipe. I rather install the turbo 4 times than mess with that damn pipe again.

Now will someone please answer my original questions because I know that people have them for sale for like 300 bucks, but I am not willing to pay that and frankly i think they are ugly. I woud like a stainless steel or aluminum one with a silicon end piece that connects to the turbo. I don't understand how this might "collapse" under high boost because it is pre-turbo. I under stand that a vaccum pressure build up might occur, but I don't think that it would be enough to crush some well made silicon. Anyway,
Where could i purchase silicon hose that is the diameter need, and could I attach my own return hose holes because people have commented on fitment issues on the samco and others. Lastly, I do realize that all you guys are selling this product and if I was interested in buying one, my post would have said "where can I BUY an inlet hose" but it didn't so please don't post where i can buy one from. Thanx -Jim |

Never saw this item so I don't think it was produced. The only intake hoses generally available are the silicone ones, most notably Samco and Perrin. However I think you'd have better results if you emailed or PMd the vendor rather than bumping a 4-year-old thread.
