Nice results!!
I have a few friends that think the shell rotella T-6 is not a good oil of which I told them they don't know what they are talking about..... So, you added no oil correct after the last change right? |

I start thinking about changing mine at 6k and usually get it done by 7k miles...but im not worried about it if it goes past that
and I have never had to add any oil between changes with the T6, either |

And people still question whether they should use it.

I clicked on this thread looking for a used oil analysis, not an unused oil analysis! Where is it ?!?
Are you stock? What air and oil filters? Driving conditions? A 25 mile commute daily and not exceeding 55 mph or 4,000 rpm's? Details please! -Dennis |

Air filter: Amsoil dry panel in the stock intake. Its been very good for me. The silicon in the sample is probably in part from having the whole inter-cooler and duct-works apart three times in the past month and dust falling in. Honestly i have more short trips and city driving on this sample than Ive had in years. Once it's up to temp I just drive it...in short piles of whoosh. Its had a pump gas pnp tdo4 at 20psi for a few years. With a bunch of add-on stuff. It just runs very clean. Ive had it long enough to know how it likes a clean positive battery terminal, very little slack in the throttle cable, shell gas preferably from pump#3, check the oil to make sure...yup full again... ect. Minimalistic DD setup really. Last edited by 02redwagone; 03-30-2012 at 04:54 AM. |

I like this oil as well, but in my DD FXT it seems to burn off faster than some. I have switched to Schaefers 5w40 and have been running that for the last 15000 miles with no burn off and great oil analysis results. Car has 125000 miles on original engine running vf48 with supporting mods.

I know exactly... Someone I know thinks that he needs to use a 5w30 castrol synthetic in his 04 wrx wagon because that is what subaru recommends is a 5w30 and I was like.....d000000d....you need to READ up on how many posts about a 5w30 has sheared down and caused problems for subaru owners with a turbo subaru...
He said that these people who think that the shell T-6 is one of the best oils don't know what they are talking about and need to provide scientific evidence to show him why this oil is good and so I posted this thread about this oil analysis.... |

So, this oil analysis is just another indication that it really is a good oil for quite a few people. |

Great to hear!!
I'm usually running 4-5k between oil changes (with no UOAs) but I lagged a bit between last October and May and ended up going about 7k. I do check the oil often though and end up adding about a quart every 2k so it does get freshened up, but I was kicking myself for going that long and hoping I didn't do any damage. Glad to see you're able to run 8k for the last 3 OCIs and everything looks good!! *even better that they're saying you could run 10k miles!!! |

I don't know of I'm more amazed at the good uoa, or the fact that you didn't add any make-up oil for 8,000 miles. I may have to return this Mobil1 10W-30 High Mileage that I just picked up. Are you the original owner? I'm wondering what kind of break-in was done.

I'm assuming it had a harder break in and allot of varied speed highway time. It drank 5/30. |

I recently bought my sti and he was using mobile one. I switched to t6 after driving 1300 miles back from new York and def felt the difference.

Samesies. I even started doing UOAs every other oil change because they weren't very interesting. Doesn't matter what type of driving I do, the UOAs are always perfect. The stuff just works.
