Quick question Xluben,
Why did you decide to tune to E85 instead of running E93 or E91? I'm just curious why the change and what the pros and cons of this is?

E85 is generally about a 50WHP/50WTQ increase over pump gas (with corresponding tunes). It is essentially "free" power (assuming you have all supporting mods). And it is generally considered to be safer for the engine due to the increased knock resistance (even with more power).

E85 will decrease fuel economy by about 25%, so be prepared to get gas more often. Right now E85 costs considerably less than Premium, so it actually ends up costing about the same per mile and possibly even less with E85, depending on mileage and gas prices. No matter what it is MUCH cheaper than race gas or other fuel than can give as much power as E85.

The other thing to consider is availability of E85 stations. If it is your daily driver I would only recommend making the switch if you can easily find E85 locally. You can't switch back and forth without reflashing the ECU and essentially draining the tank, so it's not like "flexfuel". You would basically go to E85 and stick to it.

Yeah. E85 is a ton of fun.

E85 MPG....
Summer: 15 - 17 MPG
Winter: 10 - 13 MPG *due to winter mix + car warming up

93 octane (same mods)
Current: 20 - 22 MPG

How long do people let their car idle? Jeez.

Over the winter I got the following mileage:

93oct: 19-20MPG
E85: 16-17MPG

I've only been on E85 for about a month now, but the drop in mileage hasn't been as bad as I expected. I do fill up earlier in the tank though, so I end up stopping at the gas station about twice as often as before.

In the winter it warms up until the needle is at "cold" or higher. 3 - 10 minutes (depending on temp, -20* to 33*) .... it kills MPGs. Add to that the crappy E85 winter mix and you drop 2 - 5 MPGs. City driving.

Wait till you have E all winter. I switched back and I can't believe how little I get gas now.

This thread has officially infected me with the mod bug. Wow. Hoping to see you put some sway bars in. The e85 has me jealous.

Since winter mix E85 actually has more gas in it, shouldn't you get higher mileage (other than idling for 10 minutes a day, which I never do)?

I just filled up after a half tank of basically 100% highway miles on E85 and got 19MPG! Not bad, IMO. City has been a solid 16MPG, even in the winter.

Yep. I was wondering if anyone would notice. Maybe my picture was a bit too obvious...

I got H&R 25mm spacers. They seem like quality parts. Looks equivalent to 17x8" et28. The wheels are really flush with the fenders now. I think it looks pretty good.

Spacers look great, any noticeable difference in ride or handling? Any more pics from different angles with the spacers on?

I haven't really noticed any difference in driveability after putting them on, but I haven't driven them hard. But no vibration or anything like that at freeway speeds. Here's a couple more photos:

Looks much better with the spacers on there, I still think you need some wheels on there though. I'm interested to see where the wind blows you on this one.

Just waiting to see who takes this one and makes come smart ass remark.....

I think I'm going with sways and endlinks soon. I'm planning on sticking with the stock wheels and stock springs/shocks for now.

I know there are a lot of spacer haters out there. I figured I would give them a shot, but I'm monitoring them closely and if there are ANY signs of issues they'll be coming off immediately.

I'm with Xluben on the stock wheels...I actually like them.

The one thing I will plug is tint. Even just a light legal tint would look sweet on the obp.

I have to agree with the tints, once photo-bucket is done updating I will post a picture for reference. Like the look with the new spacers

I've considered tint. MN is 50%, so it's pretty weak. Not sure if it's worth it for something that light.

Did your Cobb AP void any warranty?

Also here is a 35% tint on a OBP Sedan for reference, I don't think its too dark at all and can see out just fine at night. Its not exactly "legal" here in CA but nobody really cares when its that light

Hey xluben,

Great build thread. I picked up the Defi series gauges also, have a question about the oil pressure gauge: When you took out the stock oil pressure sensor, does it throw a code? Did you just leave the wire unplugged?

Thanks!

I don't have an AP. I am tuned open source.

Tint looks good. I don't know if I even want to go with 35%. I don't need to give people a reason to pull me over...

No code. I believe I just left the wire unplugged, but I don't actually remember. I know I just took the old sensor out, and it was fine.
