Default Yokohama avid s34d tires

These are oem tires for the 2012 Impreza 205 x 50 x 17. Anyone have a review on these tires? Dry pavement driving is pretty good so far. No driving in wet or snow yet, living in California, still waiting for rain. Tire rack has poor reviews on these tires, but it's all from Mazda 3 owners.

My brother has a set on his Mazda 3 and they lasted him about 15000 miles. Alignment was factory and was checked and rechecked by multiple tire shops. But this is in Texas heat. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Any new 2012 Impreza owners want to chime in on these tires? Espeically in the rain or snow?

I am also looking for reviews. I have never seen a tire rated so poorly at tirerack.

I just got a 2012 Impreza 2.0i on Saturday with these tires. They seem to be a bit on the noisy side, but that is subjective. I went to Discount Tire and purchased road hazard warranty for these tires for $176.

I also agree that they are a bit noisy. In the snow I wasn't exactly a fan of them and felt the car getting tail happy pretty easily(This is expected on an all season but I was not impressed what so ever seeing as the car should have a tire to complement the AWD system).

Initial take offs in the snow made the wheels spin(This is with the CVT which from a stop can be a bit "jumpy" at times) Obviously you should be easy in the snow anyways but still. They are just ok in my opinion and I hear a lot of Mazda people wearing them out between 10k and 20k miles.

They seem pretty soft and take bumps well IMO. Handling wise the 2012 impreza's have a really different handling feel then impreza's in years past. The car feels more composed and as "one" then my 06 wrx did stock for stock. They don't have much turn in, due to softer side walls but again this is an all season tire. Overall I don't think they are as "bad" as everyone is saying, however I feel a better tire should have been put on from the factory.

Hope that helps a little!

Definitely on par with the embarrassing re-92's if not worse. Best mod I ever did to my 06 was getting rid of them haha.

I have them on my 2012 2.0i Premium 5dr and have about 10K on them and they are the noisiest tires I have ever owned on any car. After looking at TireRack's survey data I'm getting them replaced with Continental Extreme Contact DWS's this afternoon because the rainy season and ski season is about to hit.

I'm very happy to hear you purchased the road hazard warranty, you very well might need it. We have a 2012 Subaru Impreza that we purchased on May 27th, 2012. The car has 8500 miles on it and the tires are shot. We took the car to the dealership a few days ago (12-26-12) and the dealer agreed that the tires were very worn and didn't wear well, however, they couldn't warranty them because they are not a Subaru product. I'm pretty disappointed. I've never been a fan of Yokohama and will never purchase another set of them again. Do yourself a favor and get another tire put on your car before purchasing a car with them on it.

These came on my car and though i cant attest to their ability in the snow i can say that they seem fine in the wet. The night i purchased my car i drove it home i think 30 miles in the rain on highway and city conditions and it felt confident. My previous vehicle was a vw touareg (suv) and i didnt notice a major road feel difference.

Unhappy S34D Garbage

Its been a year since the last post but I want to chime in. The Avid S34D are in fact so bad I went and replaced all four with 3300 miles on a leased 2013 Impreza Sport. They weren't worth risking my family's life. They are awful in the snow, noisy and scary on the highway, and pop and puncture when you drive on them. The smallest pin punctured one and set off TPS. We patched it. 10 days later a normal pothole, nothing crazy, blows out the sidewall of another. Went the next day for four Good Year Assurance. This is how the car should have been from the factory.

Default Horrible in Snow

I have 26,000 miles on my Impreza with these OEM tires. In short they are loud, horrible in snow and have worn terribly. I thought I was being picky until I read the above posts but evidently not.

I had the similarly craptastic Avid S30B tires on my 2013 Impreza, which I ripped off the car at 11,000 miles to replace with a set of Nokian WR G3. Four snowstorms and two ice storms later, I am very, very happy with this decision.

Default yokojama?

purchased a 12 sport in aug of that same year, I have just over 40,000 miles on the tires now. After a recent incounter with a pot hole the side wall now has a bubble on it. they are noisey ,they do handle well in rain, but the snow we recieved here in Illinois this past winter was to say the least a bit challenging. Driving straight, without a buzz, the tires were ok. A few times they would spin & making a turn into my drive, they didnt do well in that my right driving light was damaged clipping a snow bank. now that I have to find new tires, and dont get me started with the whole two or four tire replacement because we have AWD. All in all the OEM tires were not that bad, however I wouln'd buy them new, especially with the large selection of better tires that are less expensive.

I have a 2013 Impreza touring with the Avid S30 tires. I hit a nail on the freeway and by the time I got off, I had shredded the tire beyond repair.
My fault but I had only put 10k to 15k know those tires, but dealer says it already past the 20% wear (at 7/32) and I have to replace all 4. Didn't think they would wear that fast in only about a year of driving (and I run winters too)

The tires are not good. This is what mine looked like after 26,000 miles on a 2012 Impreza.

after 15000 miles the yokohama on my 2012 impreza look just like the above picture. very disappointed in these ***** tires.

they are total garbage in snow. last winter before putting my snow tires on we had a few inches of snow and a slight down slant on our driveway. i braked and slid all the way to the street. after putting the snows on and at the next storm i braked in the same spot and stopped.

So whats the best replacement for these craptastic tires.. I have to replace them on both my cars.

Was suggested Yokohama A82A but seem to have the same consumer hatred

They are loud and obnoxious. Need All-Season until have space for winter/Summer sets

Default I'm not having any problems with these OEM tires.

Just a quick comment here. I have 27K miles on these Yokohama Avids and still have about 50% tread life. Yes they seem to be getting pretty noisy on dry roads but I drove to Mammoth Lakes in a snow storm last month and they didn't slip on me. No chains needed. Dry handling is fair to good as I drive canyons to work every day. I'm not a speedster but for handling I'm pretty satisfied.

I have 10,000 miles on these so far. They are ok on dry Tarmac. But their snow performance was downright dangerous. I slid into a curb for no reason and broke a wheel bearing. Yes it was the tires. They don't grip very well while turning in snow, and when they let go completely, they do it without warning. Awful

we still have these **** tires on my wife's 2012 impreza sport. i hate them. they are noisy and dead feeling. they're also HORRID in the snow. i wouldn't risk them at all. i have winter tires and wheels for both of our cars. the ONLY all season i would use in the snow are Conti DWS. they are still in no way comparable to a true winter tire.

here in Colorado, i ran the DWS year round for many years between my last two subarus. switched to winters two seasons ago and haven't looked back.

Unhappy piece of crap

Got them OEM on my 2012 Impreza Sport. never used in winter as I have winter tires. These become super noisy and worn at 33K miles. Never ever had a tire give up so early. Into the garbage they go... looking to replace with Pirelli P7 Cinturato.

Currently trying my hardest to ruin these completely by November, after which I'll put my Cooper snow tires on. By Spring 2016, if they're ruined, I won't be tempted to keep them for one more summer. LoL. Hate these damn things
