Thanks! The cargo top is originally black. Used about 5 cans of white plastidip to fully cover the whole cargo

I just plastdipped my OEM roof bars and chrome grille matte black. I've got some small spots on the roof because they stuck to the cardboard. For the grille, the edges around the Subaru badge are rough. Some chrome is showing through. Any ways you guys know to fix this?
I'd also like to point out that I did the roof bars at ambient room temperature, but the grille at ~32 F. Can I expect any quality issue with the grille? In the cold, I noticed that it sprayed very "thick," like lots of big clumps until I got the surface super wet. Indoors, I noticed that it sprayed like regular spray paint. The stuff works very well, and I never would have done it if it was permanent. |

Myself and a friend plastidipped my 97 GC coupe DD. The paint was in awful shape, fading, clear failing, mismatched colors, etc. I did some quick body work and we sprayed it with an airless sprayer. I'm happy with how it turned out, the car has 211K on it now so I wasn't about to invest in a "real" paintjob. By the way, this is the same car. I swapped the wheels out and did some quick bodywork.

I did the grille matte black and then Photoshopped some more around the headlights. Color of the badge is inverted. I like!
I hate anything chrome lol. |

Koi Orange
Thought I'd post up pics of the True Spectrum - Koi Orange DYC wheel kit since I didn't really see too many examples of this color except on their sponsored Audi.

This would be my first plastidip. I just did the front grill chrome pieces, rear trunk trim and the emblems.
EDIT: Oh, also the license frames, just plastidipped the dealer frames. How does it look? Last edited by chvvkumar; 12-01-2013 at 05:24 PM. |

After: I plastidipped my BBS RK027 wheels a few weeks ago with Vintage Gold, 2011 WRB WRX. Two coats of black, four gold, two gloss. Looking great. A few things: I sprayed at +5ºC to 0ºC (41ºF - 32ºF) and this really affected the spray pattern and quality of the application. I caught on rather quickly and kept the cans inside at room temperature, and then after one coat, in hot water. The last three gold coats were used with one can per wheel, swapping each can out in-between wheels for a warm can. This helped, but summer temperatures will be better next year. The overspray was not very easy to manage, as some came off in large pieces, but still a considerable amount of overspray remained. I would use cue-cards or tape next time. Goo-Gone wasn't working very easily a few days after it had cured, a very slow arduous process. A 2600 psi pressure washer with 15º spray pattern cut through it like butter, being careful not to hit rim at this close proximity though. |
