Major misfire issues need help
Ok so after my build I'm getting misfires on all cylinders car runs decent when cold but gets worse as it gets to operating temp and shortly after runs horrible and starts shooting flames out of the downpipe... Any thoughts?
I'm running a built 2.5 block DW 1300 cc injectors DW 300 lph fuel pump Bc over sized valves Bc springs and retainers Sti cams Wrx heads with a few cc's removed and corners smoothed to prevent detonation TD04

What is your ECU/Engine Management setup?
and aren't those injectors a little overkill for a TD04? |

Are your plugs and coil packs good?
And that is a hell of a lot of injector and fuel pump for that TD04. Could have something to do with the unburned gasoline that keeps lighting on fire at your downpipe. |

yeah you need to dump those injectors for something smaller.after that check to see that all timing marks line up. jumping time happens (not likely ) my money is on injectors

Keith still thinks injectors as well. Could still test coil packs though just to rule it out.

I just had this exact same problem. It ran fine through the whole RPM range, idled great, but as soon as I hit about 18psi (tuned for 24), it would start missing pretty bad. And it wouldn't be a constant dead miss, it would miss once, climb a couple of RPM, miss again, climb a couple of RPM, miss again.. I kept checking datalog and I wouldn't see anything except boost jump around. Only codes I would get were random misfire codes and every now and then it would name a particular cylinder misfire.. The one I saw most was on #3, so I swapped coil packs with #1 and the misfire code for #1 would pop more than the others.. so I bought a set of coil packs from a fellow NASIOC member, installed one on #1 cylinder and haven't had an issue since

I actually came across this when I was having issues, it's what pointed me to my coil pack. Check it out: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthr...fire-diagnosis) (yes, I know it's a supra board, but boosted is boosted! )

Do you still want me to send you the coilpacks to test? Just call John at the shop and let him know yes or no. Hopefully you'll get it figured out soon.

he needs the 1300 for e85. what is your EM?
this is what I think. I have heard DW have problems above 1000cc . I have a set now that are in route to be checked I also believe you should be using a stock injector on stock tune to break that engine in as these demons will rear their heads.(less is more on break in) Last edited by txjunglist; 04-02-2012 at 10:01 PM. |
