You too. I'll hit you up if we have any bigger rides planned like the Great Western Loop. That probably won't be for another month at least.

As I mentioned, if you are interested in group rides, there's a Tuesday evening ride that leaves from El Camino Bike Shop at 5:00 (fast) and 6:00 (less fast) every week. I think it's starting up again tomorrow.

66 degrees outside. My commute's going to start getting messy with people. On the plus side it's time to start planning for some long trips.

It's not the averages that will pop you in a crit, it's the accelerations and the sprinting when you get caught behind the accordion at the back of the pack. Next week jump in there and give it a go

Nothing crazy since we don't have a ton of time to ride on this trip, but it's closer to you and looks like a fun ride. Let me know if you want to join and we can PM info.

We pretty much ride every weekend in our area and would be happy to show you some fun routes on the road or dirt.
El Moro is one of my local spots, lots of fire road, some fun single track. You may want to consider Aliso Woods as well for variety. Its just on the other side of the canyon. I'll definitely try and join! I can show you around Aliso as well, I know those trails extremely well.

ugh, so did I but not because of my ride. I woke up on Sat and didnt feel great but still went on the Chilli's ride. At about 15 mi in I discovered that something I ate was NOT agreeing with me. For the rest of the ride (next 30 miles) I was simply trying not to puke. I really thought about calling the wife and asking her to come get me. I came home and immediately passed out! The rest of the weekend was spent in bed or on the can I still cant eat very much without feeling sick.

but I did get to try out the Garmin 500, which rocks and it told me I'm horribly out of shape. The tires also held up very well!

I have a 700x21 road bike tire has been hanging in the garage. WHen I first acquired it, the tire was a bit wonky so I thought maybe it will straighten itself out. Its been a year later and its still very out of shape. The diameter is consistent but if you look at it from the front (streamlined view), it goes side to side, and some parts of the tire flare out, some are pinched in.

I don't think its useable, but want to double check if this is normal. I suppose I can work the metal wire. Input?

truing wheels is an art...one that i'm not good at

a good bike shop should be able to get into good rolling shape in a day for a pretty good price, unless it's bent beyond salvage which it doesn't sound like it is.

you can try to true it yourself, but i bet you're going to do more harm than good and that's not meant as an insult to you. i can change cassettes, brakes, mess with derailleurs and if i get a wheel out of true it goes to the shop.

I think you misread. Talking about the rubber tire and not the metal wheel.

Get ready to go fast with the Swami's ride. I heard they crank it up right out of the gate. It's esentially the same ride we did in reverse with a lot of dudes who race.

Dayum. Hope you feel better man. Gonna ride the dirt on Saturday then come down to eat crawfish. Also, I don't need a computer to tell me how slow I am.

This. I have had bad tires that have a "bump" or other defect.

crushed a metric yesterday

this was a ride and not a race, but if it was a race, i would have won

ride started with about 80 ppl...then 50...then 30...then 20...then 15...then 10...

my buddy got dropped with about 8 miles to go, felt bad but he still had a great ride.

Nice pic. Did you ride to Dana Point from Vista? What is that 70-80 miles?

How was the Swami's ride? We saw the group coming down Olivnnhain on Saturday when we were heading out to Escondido to ride the dirt. We rode 10 miles out at Daley Ranch with about 2500 ft of climbing. Super fun ride until I went over the bars on a technical section at the end. Nothing bad, just cuts and bruises.

Rode another 33 miles on the road with the gf yesterday. Perfect weather all weekend.

Yeah left from vista! 88 miles!!

Swami's ride, well I missed the first group. Met up with second group but they were going up to Dana Point. Didn't have my ID.. So I just rode with them to the harbor. Then turned back and just rode down to La Jolla and back.

Daily Ranch is really fun!! I crashed a few times out there when I rode mtb! Rode out there a lot with my ex bro n law Pat.

The weather was perfect!!!

Rode to work today and when I got in, at 7:15 am, there were a few people in the lobby all signing in for some bitwig meeting. I proceeded with my normal routine, placed my bike just outside my office and grabbed my clothing and headed for the bathroom. Normally the mens room is vacant... but not today. I walk in and it was a sea of activity which threw me for a loop. I normally get nearly nakked in front of the sinks and take a bird bath since my rides in dont really require a shower.

Today however, I wet some towels in went into the stall a midst some great looks from men in suits. I proceed to get nakked and towel off in the stall when I hear someone come into the one next to mine, spend 5 minutes wiping down the seat and then not use one of those paper seat thingys... I nearly bust out laughing as I get dressed and leave. I don't know why I found it funny but I figured I'd share.

Does anyone use mid-compact gearing on their road bike? I am thinking of replacing my 53/39 with a 52/38 or similar. I have SRAM Force and am hoping to swap just the chain rings.

most 52/38 set ups are run on 110 bcd, your 53/39 is 130. Just be a man and run 53/39

I am seeing that to be the case. Looks like buying an FSA SL-K/Gossamer takeoff would be the easiest way to try it.

My buddy's SL3 came with a 52/36 and he said it's awesome. I used to have a 52 on my old steel road bike and it was nice.
