Unless it drives like a prius too... who cares what it looks like.

Get 40 mpg and make the driving fun.

Do you think the convertible will sell better as an auto or manual? I'd put my money on the auto.

I just realized that we all need to stop talking about the possibility of a hybrid. They'll see it as buzz and it will just make them want to do it more.

In addition to new sheetmetal, the refresh will bring about a more powerful version of the car that will utilize either a turbocharger, a supercharger or a potent hybrid drivetrain to squeeze every last pony out of the flat-four.
Potent sounds nice, but let's hope they remember this is a sports car and go with a turbo or supercharger. It sounds like Toyota is all about superchargers, but those can be rough in the MPG department, so.. we're screwed, hybrid.

I'd prefer strung out N/A but that doesn't play nicely with MPGs either.

I'm pretty sure someone at Toyota product planning is on meth since they haven't put that fantastic 2.5L HSD into the Lexus CT.

Kers in F1 weighs about 75lbs and adds ~80hp...

Shooting brake with a hybrid system. Sure, make a nice nimble grand tourer. That's fine, just make sure I can get my BRZ as is right now in the future.

I'd consider one, just not the FRS based design that has been published. It just looks bad. I'm hoping it was just a bad artist rendering.

the current use by marketing of the term 'shooting brake' really roils my loins.

that being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a 2 door hatch version of this car, I don't think it would look all that awesome though. certainly the artists rendering I've seen looks not very good.

I say that irregardless of the butchering of the English language.

Some marketing guy decides that shooting brake sounds more mysterious than hatchback.

I also get the sale illogical desire to punch kittens in the face when someone calls my 08 sti a hatchback.

What would you call your '08 STI? A trunk less sedan?

What's wrong with dry carbon? I thought it was the easiest way to describe prepreg carbon composite as opposed to "wet carbon".. where it's basically just a bunch of epoxy, maybe some fiberglass or kevlar and some carbon weave on the top layer.. What's a better term?

This is about as close to the correct definition of "shooting brake" as you can get a Toyobaru, assuming Tada's version would be similar:

I see a 2 door hatch back. Why does it need another term? Does shooting brake refer to RWD? Does it refer to a long hood. It is just a stupid non descriptive term.

It like calling something like an X6, "oh that is a flying popscile"

Agreed, shooting brake makes me think of nothing. I think "Clown Shoe" is more appropriate for 2 door hatches with long hoods, but we all obviously see why they didn't coin that one.

Hey if you want to put this

in the same bucket as this

Then that's cool. But no really, you're right, it's almost just an automotive colloquialism used by an individual to point out that they're classy folk.
