FYI: Changing your stock air filter
When changing you stock air filter some Imprezas have a vac, hose attached below the main intake pipe if this disconnects which is easy cause its doesn't have a clamp your car will not wanna run and the symptons will be as your engine isn't getting enough fuel or spark. I had this happen when I swapped my filter and I was looking all around to see if I knocked something off but I didn't notice since it was under. It wasn't until I jumped in teh seat and saw it under the hood disconnected. Well I hope this helps.
