pretty gross pics. Do 00 Impreza's have them? I may have to take a run down to autozone/the stealership

I just threw the one i got from ebay into my car. I noticed that the filter was labeled showing the airflow going in a certain direction. Can someone confirm that the airflow is "downward into the blower" rather than "upwards from the blower"?

Yes the airflow is downward towards the blower. The air intake is above the filter.

This only applies to 02/3's with the air filtration system, correct? Or is there a place for a filter on all cars?

My 05 WRX came with a cabin filter already installed...of course it was really gross and dirty by the time I discovered where it was and how to replace it.

I have just been chopping up some furnace filters and making some ghetto cabin filters out of those...they work pretty good...I just put some duct tape around the edges to make it more solid so less air gets by the sides of the filter. I might try that Purolator one mentioned above however next time around.

For the record, Autozone states that the 2006 Impreza did come with a cabin filter.

Better than what the stealership wants to charge for doing that. I saw on a price list at my dealer they want like 150.00 to do it!

^^ that's absurd!! It takes about 20 mins, and I usually bust out the mini shop vac to clean it up inside. Damn dealerships are a ripoff!!

Cool I got one at pepboys in stock for $15.99

I just checked my '03, and apparently the first owner didn't spring for this option. It is a pretty across-the-board belief that this filter is pretty beneficial, and it would be good to toss one in there?
