Any way we could talk the OP into downloading the reflashed map with the tools above and handing them over to the forum to review? If we had a tuner on board willing to compare the two maps, I'd be willing to buy the cable (for myself) and then lend it to the OP, provided he had the laptop and technical know-how to do get the map. And provided he was willing and would return my cable to me after .

I don't have a lap top. Just a driod. I am considering some software for my phone and a OBD bluetooth connector. But in regard to SOA, they still haven't called back. Cigarette smoking man in no where in sight with the potential fix to my problem. The rate this is going is just retarded. Day 19 of no car.

Damn. Maybe once your car is back we can coordinate an effort to get that map. I'm not sure anyone has really seen it, so I think it could be beneficial to the community even to know what is there. I'm assuming an OTS map would still be miles better, but any indication as to what SOA is secretly doing would be nice.

Best of luck OP. I'll be following the thread.

I feel for those having issues with their cars but it seems we only hear about the negative sides to these cars. What about all the people who don't have any issues? It's one sided because everyone is quick to tell everyone how bad these cars are. I'm sure there are many out there with no issues and love their cars, they just don't post about it. I'm at a Stage 1 now and I know that maybe one day the motor will go or maybe it won't. No car is going to be perfect. I just do what others have said and make sure I follow the maintenance requirements.

Its not all doom and gloom. But this is a blown motor thread. I'm not singing and dancing because my motor blew up and 2 miles later my ECU makes a cucka dipey and the dealership isn't allowed by Subaru to update my $40,000 flower pot. If it makes you feel better I have been a huge proponent of Subaru for years. And over the years have actually encouraged 6 of my friends to buy new Subaru's

Haha same here! Since I bought my '08, three of my friends bought Subaru's instead of honda's; one of them is even on his second Subaru

I sold my '08 to clean up my finances and buy a house. Now that's done, I'm back in a Subaru, again!

(I also bought a '99 Forester for my dad, so that's 7 subie purchases!)

Anyway, hope your STi gets fixed soon. I don't know what the lemon laws are in your state, but you may need to check on that if things start going in the wrong direction

Yeah man sorry I wasn't trying to be negative. I'm crossing my fingers I don't have to go through what you are. I'm pro Subaru too! It just sad to see this happen to such a great car. I hope they get you going again!

Dealer just called looks like they need it for another 8-9 days. SOA hasn't called me back. And when I call them, " we have no information for you at this time " ... I can't believe this ****

I can't find a SWP limited STI anywhere in the NE territory. But after all this I really don't want another. Cigarette Smoking Man ( CSM ) can't make it to New Hampshire until NEXT Wednesday. Then the dealer wants to make sure its right and put some miles on it. So add a day to that Thursday.. ! Next Fu*king Thursday for a total of 28 days of no STI. I have tried to be a nice guy. But the gloves are going to have to come off now. SOA never called me back like they said they would. And there is still a chance this may not fix the car. " This update should work "... I have one foot out the window.

If I get it back and if it blows again. I won't leave the dealership with it. That will be it for me and that car.

Isn't this why there are lemon laws? I thought if you were out of the car for something like a month consecutive or 5 weeks over the course of a year Subaru would have to buy the car back?

Yes good point. Thats the scumbag part. Subaru is going to take nearly 2 weeks to send someone to the dealer to perform a 5 minute reflash. Bringing to the total of days to 28-29 days out of service. Just under the 30 day limit for lemon law. Such BS!

SOA called me back today. It only took 4 days. And in that time they have determined.... wait for it ...... " we don't have any info at this time for you this is a courtesy call to let you know we are gathering info " . Then I asked this bozo " do you mean to tell me in the age of technology in the year 2012 it is impossible to update my Subaru at the dealership by using the internet to access the update ? His answer " yes , the map is too new. It can only be done by this field rep. " This is my last Subaru ever.

If what they are saying is true, it sounds like there may be a custom component to the tune, basically a custom factory tune. Could be a good thing.

Thanks for the optimistic point of view. However at this point I feel like Subaru could fuc* up a glass of water.

All of their subaru loaner cars were out with other customers. So I get a dirty rental car from enterprise. I work in that business this is just how that **** goes.
