Default noob overboost question.

I wasnt reaching target boost on the 93oct v310 stage 2 hwg tune. I was still only hitting 15psi. I have no boost leaks so i read about adjusting the wastegate actuator arm. I gave it a few spins(3-4) and went for a spin. I hit 19psi and instantly backed off. So i changed maps to the 93oct v310 stage 2 map, this time i hit 17.5psi. Now each pull was only in 2nd gear. I know you should do them in 3rd or 4th(I have a 4.11fd trans). But if i am spiking that high in only second gear then i cant imagine what i'll hit with more load. So should i try switching to the lwg map or just try readjusting the wastegate?

You went too far when tightening the wastegate arm. You want to take it in small steps, logging after each change (3rd gear WOT if you can do so safely). You can start with either the normal or high wastegate map (high will get you closer to begin with). Then tighten the arm a half a turn at a time, logging to see when you get within 1 psi of your target in 3rd gear, at which point you are done and good to go.

On a side note, the only intakes that are certified as compatible with these OTS maps are the stock and Cobb SF intakes. Using other intakes can potentially cause load errors which can impact fueling and ignition timing. The maps can be re-calibrated for different intakes by a protuner.

I know about the intake but this is what was on the car when i purchased it. I also know that i adjusted the wastegate a little too much. My question is more of can I just flash the LWG map and be ok? i got a 1.5psi drop just by switching from the HWG map to the regular stage 2 map. so will the LWG map give me another 1.5 drop? if it did then in third i should be very close to target boost correct?

Excuse me if this is dumb. just checking to see if this theory is correct. Thanks for your help!

You might get boost to a value you are looking for with the LWG map, but since your WG arm is adjusted too tight you might have problems with boost control. It is best to re-adjust the WG arm to lengthen it some (1.5-2 turns maybe) and then run the normal map and see where you are.

You can certainly give it a try - you may need additional tweaking of the wastegate arm, though. Post up your 3rd gear run and we can take a look. There is some advantage to getting it dialed in with the normal wastegate map, however. You then can flash to the LWG map if say, later when it gets colder out, you end up overboosting (rather than messing with the wastegate arm again).

Well I readjusted the wastegate and with the normal wastegate map I'm seeing 16.5psi so we're close. Maybe another half to 1 full turn and it should be dialed in. Unfortunately I have a dead laptop at the moment so no data logging for me. Car feels good though, pulls smoothing with no surging and boost comes on nice and fast.
