throttle body/coolant bypass
has anyone heard of bypassing the coolant lines in the throttle body? my buddy has a gto with an ls1 and he did it on his so it wont run hot coolant through it. ive done it already didnt know if it was a good idea or not. seems to be doin pretty good.

There is a thread on this - I've done it but didn't really notice any difference.

yeah, it's not really a necessity unless you live in extremely cold environments. the bypass is easy to do as well.

I have done this as well.......no hot coolant running thru my throttle body thanks!

you most likely won't notice a difference... I thought I had at first, but after a couple months and some blind testing courtesy of a buddy swapping it for me, there really was no difference. I DID take a slight hit in mileage though. Did some searching, and lots of sites document warming intake air for mileage reasons.

i did this for the heck of it. its probably 0 affectivness but atleast the air is maybe cooler going into the throttle body i have 0 proof. warming air for emissions more likely

yeah i also did it but i can't really notice a differance but i'm sure my car is alot happier to not have hot coolent runnin in the tb in el paso where the air is already 105+

What Uncle meant is that this idea has been around for a while. There was a decent thread discussing it here, just search for a while. THe coolant in the TB is geared to prevent the throttle plate getting stuck due to frost, if you live in a pleasant climate, it's utterly useless. Nevertheless, actual heating of intake air is minimal, so by all means there should be no tangible "power" effects after removing it. Asides from the satifaction of having done a mod..
