Default Replacing heated side view mirror (2011 Impreza)

I need to replace just the glass on the driver side mirror. I've searched the forums high and low, and the rest of the interwebz, but can't find the answer I'm looking for - sorry if I missed it.

The side view mirror I need to replace is heated. Do I need to purchase the heated replacement part, or just the glass (difference of $50)? I'm wondering if it's possible to salvage the heating element.

Any links/tips on replacing the glass gets bonus points. Thanks in advance for your help.

The heating element is attached to the backside of the mirror glass and isn't removeable. You'll need to spend the bigger bucks...

To remove the mirror glass, push the mirror all the way in on the top, and from underneath release the two clips that hold the glass to the backing plate, and pull it out and up.

For pics, and more detailed instructions look for the thread that details the installation of the LED signals.
