I have not had a front license plate in the almost 2.5 years ive had my car. The closest I've come to being "harassed" was when I got pulled over for speeding, and was given a warning for no front plate. So, I dont really think its too big of a deal.

Just stopped at a light with 2 cops across from me and I have no Front plate and both my inspection and tags are expired. Oh and i even have the number from the Drag strip still on my window. Totally catless exhaust and I had no problem driving right past them. LOL

i put mine on because i was tired of being pulled over all the time. It really depends where you are. plano/allen cops are nit-pickers like that.

Who wants to get pulled over leaving a bar by some cop just looking for something wrong with ur car? Not me. But I thought that no front license plate was in affect now. I took mine off last week. Anyone know for sure whats up with that bill.

Unfortunately, the law states that if you are issued two plates, then you must put one in the front and the back. If you have to drill holes in the bumper to comply, then so be it. There are very few cops out there that will chase you down for no front plate. You almost all the time have to be pulled over for something else in order to get a plates violation.
It's ultimately your choice to obey the laws or have a pretty front end. |

It is just a reason to get pulled over and go over your car. I have been pulled over for it twice, once in a BMW 740i and once in my STI. SO it does happens to all kind of cars

I haven't been running a front plate since that bitch hit me and ripped it off of my car. No trouble so far... of course, if they complain, I can just point out that my plate was destroyed by her front wheel.

In 5.5 years and 5 different cars - NONE with front plates - I've never received a ticket for it. I have, however, had it mentioned to me as a cop was issuing me a speeding citation.
My wife got a ticket for no front plate in her Lexus RX, tho. Go figure. |

the law did not pass, if any of you asking for link need more than that, research it yourselves.
you are still required to have 2 plates in texas, one front, one back. |

sucks, but it is the law, got a ticket when I was in College Station coming home from work (bouncer) 3am, and he says: "Son, are you aware that you have no front plate displayed?"
$80 something later! it could have been my 15" JL's that got his attention though, opps... |

I got pulled over last year going fishing with my sister & brother-inlaw for no front license plate at 6 in the morning. He gave me a warning for no plate, but gave me a ticket for have a modified (cracked & taped up) drivers license.. and then haulled me off to the slammer for 2 warrants. Gotta love texas, and all the hicks in it.

something to keep in mind is, it only has to be displayed in a forward facing location that does not impede your view.
you don't have to put it on your bumper if you don't want. put it in your window, all ghetto, put it in front of your radiator, put it on hinges so that it flaps up in the wind, and when the cop pulls you over he can't see it, then it is there |

I got pulled over by DPS on my way back from houston on 4th of July weekend on 45... was really weird...
I'm driving in the right lane with traffic, I see a cop ahead, we all slow down... he signals to come out into traffic, so I let him in. We're rolling doing 60 (on 45), he's just pissing people off. Then he goes back onto the shoulder, I then pass by... he comes back out into traffic and throws on the lights... I'm like, "what the hell did I do???" We pull over, I roll down all my windows (dark tint)... we go through the motions and he points out that I dont have a front plate on... all the while I'm thinking "that's what you pulled me over on an interstate?!?!?" I give him the "thinker" look as I looked shocked that I didnt have it on... I tell him I came to houston for a car show this weekend and must have left the plate off after I was cleaning the car. He writes me a warning and then asks about my car... "so you got some stuff done to this?" "yeah, you could say that " "any nitrous?" "no sir" "oh, well have a nice day sir" "you too" |
