I picked up one of those new focus ST's. It's a fun car, I can't wait for Cobb to start turning out parts.

Josh the STI stuff won't fit for the most part, you need WRX stuff.

Joe what trim did you get? I want a white one in ST2 or 3.

the sti intercooler, intake manifold, and turbo don't fit, but most everything else will.

i just picked up 2012 sti struts and springs for it, and woody just grabbed some 2010 sti se struts and springs for his. most everything for 08-10 wrx/sti fits the fxt (except the things i listed above...there are a few other things, but that is the big ticket items).

he doesn't have a turbo, intercooler, or intake manifold, so none of that stuff even matters anyways.

in actuality, even all that stuff works just fine, you just have to swap all of it at once. there is an FXT out in CA that has a full sti swap (engine, suspension, hubs, brakes, wheels, 6-speed, ECU, etc.).

I got the ST2. ST3's are late availability I guess. I ended up with the tangerines color, I wanted blue but right now you might be waiting forever to get one. They are gone about fifteen minutes after they out them out on the lot!

Josh don't worry about Kirby, he forgot everything he knew when he moved across the pond.

No I knew the wrx suspension bits fit but swore the STI ones didn't since the hubs were different, just like on the previous generation. Anyone wanna by a LGT wagon?

Oh and Joe, what have you found as pros and cons vs your STI? Looking for things like ride, performance, interior, and overall build quality. I know it already has one up on subaru since you can get recaros, how are those?

To be completely honest I love my ST. I'm getting 6mpg more in it, the suspension is way more responsive, even with the upgrades I had on the STi. The ford stIll has a bIt of oversteer but Steeda has already came out wIth a swaybar to correct that. Road noise is dramatically quieter and the infotainment system is awesome. the ST is a quick car but it will never have the torque the STi had. It really is a toss up but standard features in cars have changed quite a bit even in the last four years.

If I could have gone down to a two door though, I probably would have stepped into an FRS. I would have said BRZ but good luck finding one. Maybe the dealers in San Antonio just suck but they are hard to get.

no they are definitely hard to get. last i heard, the dealer markup on them was $4k, and almost all the ones scheduled for sale in the U.S. this year are already spoken for.

That's what kills me. You can get a FRS in like a week. I had a dealer get passed at me because I didn't want to wait a week to see one. I'm sure it was gone 5 min after it hit the lot. So why is Subaru so slow to keep up with the demand?

subaru is a much smaller company than toyota, and i think that is part of it. another part of it is that i think this is really the first time subaru has had this much demand for one of their vehicles, and also the first time that one of their vehicles has been considered "top dog" (even over the FRS). so, i don't think they were fully prepared for the amount of demand that actually was created by the BRZ. also, they are probably mostly assembled side by side with each other in a toyota owned plant, and then subaru has to add their little luxury upgrades that the BRZ has over the FRS.

it also has a little bit to do with the economics of supply and demand as well. if they can keep the supply lower, then they can essentially drive the demand higher, which also essentially holds the value higher.
