Gotchya. I have PPF up front, but nothing on the back. I guess if you set it up right the back tow hook is far enough out that a tie down strap wouldn't even touch the car.

As for the front, I might buy a quickloop to test it out. IF anything i can carry a roll of painters tape and add some extra protection up front. Thanks for the input.

Enjoy the kayaks, I'm loving mine as well!

Thule 594XT with OEM bars. So far so good, hope to upgrade the bars in the future since the OEM ones flex a bit with 2 Mtn bikes.

Interesting, I carry two 40lb kayaks on the OEM bars with very minimal flex in the bars.

Being on coilovers might cause it to flex a bit more cause of the stiffer suspension or maybe the bike rack itself? I'll have to compare it to my friend's Thule setup.

My two kayaks weigh in at about 50 and 60 pounds plus the weight of the cradles I'm probably close to 100.

a buddy's Fiat Abarth. Keep trying to get him into a rack! He does a lot of dirt jumping.

My friend has an Abarth in white as well. I was surprised at the stock exhaust note, sounds good.

Question - lately the more I drive with the Thule 594XT bike rack I notice more movement and crossbars bouncing around. Everything is tied down correctly and properly. Is this normal for the bike to move? This is around 50-75mph on streets/freeways.

BNP: Yeah, it happens with my Yakima Raptors, which is similar to your Thule tray. I'd much prefer a fork mounted setup to cure the wobble, but the price was too enticing to pass up.

Ok that's what I figured, thanks. Anyone have experience with OEM cross bars vs Thule Aeroblades or Thule traditional squares? If it's more secure and solid I think it would be worth the cost, especially for an expensive bike on top.

I just switched to the aeroblades from the thinner OEM bars and flex is less. I wish I could use a fork mount but my Cannondale has a lefty fork.

We have the aeroblades on my wife's tdi and love them. They are pretty solid and very quiet.
