Meanwhile, check out what these guys are doing on the west coast

I actively attend 3 meets that aren't at bars.

and my geographic location does not warrant "that's all there is to do". generally a meet institutes a parking lot and perhaps food. are you insinuating that the state of vermont has no food or parking lots? I have organized numerous meets that include both. would love to see a parking garage meet. or an ice cream stand meet. restaurant meets suck. |

Meets aren't rocket science. You organize, they come. If you plan on using private property, either patronize the business or get permission.

The reason the weekly meets are done at restaurants is because if your a patron there it is a lot harder for police to come in and say you are trespassing on the property. I have done meets at ice cream places and other outside food venues to switch it up during the summer months. You can't just set up a meet in some random parking lot and not attract police attention. The parking garage meets take a decent amount of time to plan and many phone calls to get permission to use the property.

You could organize a meet at like a state park that is open to the public. That ~MAY~ be less obstructive and get less attention.

Restaurants are more appealing than parking lot hang outs for many reasons. We all own (or have owned) the same damn car, you don't have to stand around and stare at them. Get some food, sit down, and get to know the people. That's what a community is. Or you can make a meet in a random parking lot and see how that goes... |
