just finished oem fogs install on 2011
Hey guys,
Just finished the installation of my oem fogs. I got the factory kit for my 2011 5 door and it took about an hour and fifteen minutes for me to do. It was very easy to, but the included instructions were pretty bad. They look very nice and the factory kit is very nice. A few tips for anyone going to attempt this---------- dont remove the plastic panels to install the relay, if you have long enough fingers and good hand control you should be able to plug the relay in the lower left spot. dont remove the bumper or the side ducts in the bumper, or pry anything with a screwdriver or anything similar. dont remove the inner fender liner either. Ive read alot of information about this install and the only thing you need to do is remove the 10mm screw behind the front tow hook on the underneath. once you take the bolt out you can move the fender liner low enough out the way to work your hands in there all that you need. you can also reach the tabs for the front panels that need to be removed. push the tabs in the push out on the panels. once you have the right side pressed out slowly but firmly keep pressure on the panel while pulling it off. wouldnt recomend doing this in subzero temps with the plastic panels that need to be removed. I didnt take any pics of this install, but I can if someone needs help at all with anything. The only tools required are a long shank phillips screwdriver and a 10mm deep socket with a 3/8 ratchet. To tighten the bolts for the fogs inside the bumper that attach the fogs, put the deep socket on your hand and manually turn it without the ratchet. once again, a very easy install and the quality and finish of the kit are great. now my wrx looks like it has always had the fogs. my yellow lights should be in later this week so I can aim them properly and hopefully get them to be useful.

Nice. I will install mine when i install the lip and do an oil change this weekend. Having the under liner off should make it easy when i have it on a lift. How was the install for the signal stalk? was it plug n play?

yes, all plug and play. 6 screws total to remove to get the stalk out. 4 for the column plastic, 1 on bottom-3 to remove top cover. 2 small phillips hold in the stalk, and unplug the connector. having the under liner off may help a little, but all you really need is the phillips screws behind the tow hooks out. its the fender liner that really blocks you out.

the best that youre going to do is prob 20% to 25% off msrp at the dealership. bring in the 25% off retail print out from heuberger subaru and ask them to match it. if they are a large volume dealer they can, if they arent 20% off msrp is all they can do. also your local dealer can get them next day without shipping costs passed on to you. http://parts.subaru.com/?siteid=215892 |

I really wish now I took pics of the whole install. i got my hoen yellows installed now, and I can now tell that they are on but they are still useless. I really need to do a total front light adjustment.

Well i installed them yesterday. Putting them on were easy! less than 1 minute. What i had trouble was getting the top steering wheel cover off. i think i took me around 30 minutes. lol supposedly theres 3 screws. I managed to find 1 easy. the other one took me some time. I ended up not finding the 3rd one lol so i just somehow just shook it out.
The thing that really sucks is that the fogs only work when you have your headlights on. wont work anytime else. I got yellow overlays instead of getting yellow bulbs |

I do like the lights, they seem like a decent product and probably will be great once the lights are actually not pointed at the ground.

I aimed the front low beams and the fogs tonight and the difference is amazing. now i can see ahead of me while driving at night, and enjoy the yellow glow of the fogs at the same time. can definitly tell now when the fogs are on and when they arent. This is a MUST DO for us 08-11 wrx guys

Any pics of the yellows at night. You said you went with yellow bulbs instead of a yellow lens right?

Anyone know how to bypass it so we can run just fog lights and park lights?

there is a thread on this somewhere. The other (easier) option is to change your DRLs to fogs - another thread on this recently.
This way, the fogs are always on daytime at full brightness since it also bypasses the DRL resistor, they remain on with park lights, and they go off with headlamps (unless you press the fog switch). |

Do you have HIDs for low beam? If not, what bulbs do you have?
