Default Magnecor wires AND NGk plugs?

OK...Did a search and found a lot of info, but does anyone know where I can get the NGK plugs and Magnecor wires at the SAME place? It seems like places that have the wires don't have the plugs, and vise versa.

Thanks,

TIM

I'm assuming that Mastro Subaru (www.mastroxrx.com)in Tampa, FL sells both.
I know they sell the Magnacor wires and they are a subaru dealer so they should be able to sell you the NGK plugs too.

Personnaly, I'd get the plugs from a local autoparts store and get the wires from www.cyberauto.com. I got them for $78 shipped.

Stacey

Stacey - I just called CyberAuto and they quoted me $95 w/o shipping. Who did you talk to there? They asked for your first/last name, but obviously I only have your first.

Thanks,

- Steve

So...did they make a difference? The wires that is. I know the plugs make a difference. I just replaced mine.

Stacey - Thank you. I was talking to a guy named Dave and he was actually really cool. He had quoted me the wrong part. The $95 was for the DOHC '98. All said, I got them for $79 shipped. Right on.

Thanks,

- Steve

Firewire,
I replaced my plugs and wires at the same time and it made a world of a difference.
Therefore, I can't tell you what difference the wires themselves make. They are supposed to deliver a better spark! They also look cool in the engine bay.

Steve,
I'm glad that you got the right price.

Regards
Stacey

I replaced mine with champions.

I know laugh at me, HA HA but the car was barely running and I had it in the shop (NOT subaru dealer, I refuse to go there) and told them to go ahead and do the plugs with whatever they had in house that would fit. So I got champions.

The car runs WAAAY better than it was, and I'm not getting nearly as much backfire with the stromung now.

Hehe, the guys at the shop were cursing because they had never done the plugs on a boxer engine before and it was a real pain in the ass. Hence.... the reason I brought it there.

Mavic, The local trak auto stores carry NGK copper. Thats what I have in my car. They are nice plugs, got rid of the cold engine hesitation I was having. I think it was like $6 for 4, they are quite cheap. I didn't get new wires yet, I'm not convinced they will make any difference at all. And $80 is a lot of money for something not proven to increase performance.

Just read the above response. What kind of "technitions" had problems changing the plugs on a RS? I am barely mechanically inclined and it was extremely easy to do. I took my time and did it in about 20 minutes, I'm sure if i really wanted to I could do it in 5 minutes or so. Might not want to take your car back there if they can't even change spark plugs without complaining.

Yes, the sparkplug install is extremely easy....I had a tougher time doing the plugs on my 68 chevelle 350CI, and all i had to do for that was climb inside the engine bay. I did the scoobies in about 20 minutes
just don't forget the anti seize compound and some dielectric gel.

I changed out my plugs and wires to NGK coppers and Magnecore wires at around 8000 miles. I really couldn't tell the difference. I know it was too early to have any wear on the Champions, I just did it for peace of mind. I also checked the gaping on the Champions I pulled out. Two of them were a little over gapped. However, I was really hoping (longshot here) that the Magnecores would make a difference in my hesitation problem (hoping the ecu was getting emi or something)... but it's still there. Guess it's the o2 sensor.

Overall, it seems to run a little smoother... but it could be my overactive imagination... and they look nicer... plus now I know that the plugs are gapped and installed properly and the wires have the dyeletric (sp?) grease on them and are also installed properly.

Also if you take out your air intake and your windshield wiper fluid bottle.. it's a helluva lot easier. Also make sure that you really push the wires down on your plugs and get that little 'schnick' sound. I had to make a fist and put my knuckle on the center of the boot and lean in hard ... it'll snap by just pushing.. but you have to get that second 'schnick' before it's on good.
