Default 2012 Ford Focus Pricing

Source - an Email I got from Ford

Starting MSRP'S (incl a $500 early order rebate)

SE 5-Door $18065
SEL 5-Door $21065
Titanium 5-door $22765

http://www.fordvehicles.com/resource...h_rebate5d.pdf

S Sedan $16270
SE Sedan $17270
SEL Sedan $20270
Titanium Sedan $22270

http://www.fordvehicles.com/resource...h_rebate4d.pdf

Vehicles available in Spring 2011

** So I'd estimate the Focus ST will be equipped at the SEL Hatchback level to start, MSRP's in the $25-27.5k range **

IMO the price points of the Focus and the Fiesta are too close. Americans love larger vehicles so I can see the Focus eating all the Fiesta sales.

Oh and we are gonna have to wait a awhile for the ST.

Fiesta starts under $14k, the existing Focus starts in the $16k's (according to http://www.fordvehicles.com/). I can see why we aren't getting a 3door hatch Focus since now we have the Fiesta. When I bought my 3 door hatch Focus in 2000, sticker was in the $14k's.

By way of comparison, the Fit starts at $14.9k , and the Civic starts at $15.6k (according o http://automobiles.honda.com/) , so Ford's price gap seems pretty decent.

But we also don't get a Fiesta 3 door either.

Focus pricing seems very much like the Mazda3, so I'd expect the ST to be about $23-24k.

P.S. Why are hatchbacks always more expensive in America?

They want you to pay a premium for practical utility?

How many other subcompact entry level 3 doors are there in the U.S.? The Hyundai Accent ($9,985 - $15,345) & the Toyota Yaris ($12,605 - $13,365)? There's no value proposition (nor enticing profit margin) in those turds.

The Mazda2 ($14,180 - $15,635) is the exception, notice narrow price range and not a lot of options to jack up the price. Ford is positioning the Fiesta ($13,320 - $17,120) as the 'premium subcompact' of the platform via its multitude of options & features once you're past the stripper "S" level.

The Mazda3 ($15,800 - $23,010) and the Focus still share the same platform, but Ford again is going after some premium pricing when you move up trim levels. The existing Focus is priced nearly below the Mazda3 ($16,640 - $19,670), since its a 10 year old platform in the U.S.

The Focus ST will be more than $25k to start because Ford has stated it knows people will pay a premium for the EcoBoost powertrain. There's a value proposition in the amount of power to be gotten from EcoBoost, and touting how green it is compared to a larger powerplant making similar numbers. High volume production (using it in multiple international markets) drives down costs and keeps margins healthy. Tack on other go fast & look fast bits and the price goes higher than the MazdaSpeed3.

Anybody else notice only the SE trim is available with a manual transmission?

Big BOO from me. The Focus Titanium was a leading candidate for my next car until I saw that. The SE trim would be OK, but the lack of a standard size stereo turns me off there as well. So I can't have leather seats and good stereo with a manual trans? Double BOO.

And before the twin-clutch crowd crows about lap times, I prefer the 3 pedal manual for it's proven durability in addition to preferring the driving experience.

Maybe the ST will show up soon enough to win my heart.

No price for the EV version yet? Not surprising, but disappointing all the same.

Default 2012 Ford Focus configurator comes online

How would you take your 2012 Ford Focus? The time to decide is at hand because Ford has just turned on the Focus configurator. The compact car comes in two flavors; sedan and hatchback, with the sedan receiving one lower trim in the form of the base S model. The sedan starts at $16,270 and the base SE hatchback is priced at $18,065.

If it were our money, we would start with the 2012 Ford Focus SE hatchback and build from there. This way we get to choose the five-speed manual gearbox. Throw in the Rapid Spec 203A option package, a moonroof, the SE Sport Package for a slightly more aggressive look and then paint it Kona Blue Metallic. What's yours look like? Go build your 2012 Ford Focus over at Ford's configurator. Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Now looking at the configurator it appears you can get leather seats on an SE. Strange how Ford makes it so complicated. I actually prefer the Honda approach, that is until they got rid of the EX-L 5sp.

I just realized the "Light Stone" interior is not available with the sport package...

Warning: Rant

Why are automotive marketeers such morons? There's some 40year old convention that "sporty" cars should be dark in color both interior and exterior. It's the same reason my WRX was so @#$(%* hard to find. Stupid. I want a lighter color interior so I don't sear my a$$ when I get in on a hot summer day! It has nothing to do with the engine and suspension, you idiots!

That configurator doesn't do Kona Blue any justice. It looks like a periwinkle type color when it's actually a dark metallic blue.

i don't know i just can't justify a focus for 400 bucks a month unless it's awd and turbo. there sticker price is more than my otd price of my wrx new.

You realize your monthly payment is dependent on your down payment, interest rate and term, don't you? The payment in the screen shot is an example - there's a calculator there for you to manipulate the variables to give you an estimate of what your monthly payment would be.

And I guarantee you, you didn't buy a new WRX for $21k.

I really like the looks of the new Focus, but when I built mine out, it came to a little over $27k. Yes, there are many options that I cannot get on the WRX or the MS3, but honestly if I am going to pay that much, the performance is more important to me than the bells and whistles. Hope Ford is not pricing this car to high for the target audience.

Will have to wait and see what the car feels like I guess. Took a ride in a locals Golf 1.4T the other day and was very impressed with the interior quality of the vehicle. With any luck, maybe Ford will be putting in similar materials for the Focus.
