Hey all, first post.
This looks like a great option for my hybrid build. I'll send a PM if I'm able. |

Another post made it sound like you either get the 4/5 angle valve job (if the heads are old), or you get the heads decked (if the heads are relatively new), but not both....but I could very easily be misinterpreting the other post. |

That's correct except the price of the CNC work has gone up to $450. So the total for all 3 is $1150. Thanks -- Ed |

So if the heads are old, do you recommend all three, or just the combustion chamber reshaping and the valve job?
(Forgive me if this is a stupid question, I know nothing about this type of work.) |

Yep, we can't do the clover style.
Thanks -- Ed |

Or if you don't trust your hands like me you can contact ASF machine, Joe does a combo of by hand and machine. I was curious so I talked to him about it, he said that he can get the chamber out to about 49-50cc.

Hey Ed,
Can you chamber match a set of ej207 heads from a version 9 STi with AVCS to match up with an ej257 block? |

Hey Ed,
I've got a set of EJ20X V9 dual AVCS 2.0L legacy heads sitting around here, I noticed the chamber is more square compared to the 205/207 chambers, but would you still be able to CNC these out? Or would I be limited to blending by hand? Maybe even FujiK could chime in about this. I have photos on hand for you if you want to see. You can shoot me a PM as well Thanks! |

I honestly haven't tried, but I don't think the program would work properly.

What kind of answer is this, especially if you "honestly haven't tried"? Seems like you're slightly limiting your customer base. I actually expected a better response from a vendor, wow.

^ his program is designed to reshape the chamber to mimic the EJ257, which only requires the chamber to be widened for a majority of the process.
To modify a clover style chamber to match that of a 257 would require a totally new program because more material would have to be removed to recreate the same chamber. Ed is catering to the more recent heads using a Cnc program to keep things faster and a very close match to STi CC's. It's not his fault he hasn't had time to do every style of head and write a few different programs. Like posted above you can get work done to these heads from other vendors and Nasioc members. No reason to degrade a vendor(s) on here. Just my .02 |

Its obvious other people do this, but my point was to decide on whether I would choose them for the work or someone else. Threads like this are to inform as well as advertise and there isn't much informing going on. I'm not the type of person to just send off a couple of heads to a company far away because some nasioc lackie recommends them. I prefer vendors who have a good bit of technical knowledge on the subject. Since my port and valve job will be done soon, I decided to recheck here for any updates. Its not degrading to ask questions and expect legitimate answers from a person who represents a company that will be doing substantially technical operations to a component that will be part of your daily driver. .02 doesn't get much these days Last edited by 2slofouru; 12-09-2012 at 12:23 PM. |
