Question OT: Know of a good place that ships cars ?

I need to ship a car from New Hampshire to Oklahoma. Do you happen to know of a good company that does this sort of thing? Any step in the right direction will be most appreciated.

When do you need it there and do you mind a few extra thousand miles?

I'll drive it out. You pay for food, hotel and a return flight.

How's that?

Other than that, I haven't the slightest of any trasportation co's.

I can go too! And I don't mind flying Southwest back. It's actually cheaper than shipping a car out, which will cost about $800 or so to OK. Say $250 for Southwest, $150 for gas, $120 for hotel...

http://www.movecars.com/states/new_hampshire.htm

I think one of the guys who runs vintage at Mt Washington either runs or has a connection with some transport co., just can't find a reference.....

KC, Longshot, m750, Khaos rkkwan: I apprectiate the offer, but I was not planning on laying down plastic in the car.

suber: I have done a google search on the subject. Got back a quote for $950. I was just checking to see if anyone in region had any experience in shipping a car or could refer a company to me to check out. Thank you for the links. I will take a look at those companys as well.

It's a 26 hr trip. Takes 24 to Topeka KS. Heck, I know people who made Topeka in 19 hrs. (Not me, I stop in OH for sleepy sleep)

caligula - Sorry that I don't have any companies to recommend to you. However, I was trying to ship an Integra GS-R to Vancouver, BC around this time last year, and I basically did a search on the web and got some quotes from various companies. If I remember it correctly, it's about $1150 from Rhode Island to Bellingham, WA. Since OK is only half-way across the country, $950 seems a little high. Anyways, I ended up driving it over there (3.5 days) and actually flew back on Southwest.

Also, when you shop around, see if they use enclosed or exposed carriers. The enclosed one will cost more, but you may want to consider it, especially in winter time. [Luxury car manufacturers ship their cars that way, and BMW has its own dedicated fleet.]

Another possibilty is through BNSF (the railroad Burlington Northern Santa Fe). They launched a consumer car shipping business last year. I don't know if they're running the program. Prices are comparabale, but your car gets to ride in an enclosed carrier on rails.

rkkwan: Thanks for the advice. I will shop around and see who has the better price. I will also check out the Railroad you mentioned. It is a 1992 Honda Accord DX. So, I don't mind shipping in an open carrier. Thank you once again.
