Default Purge Control solenoid valve hooked up correctly?

Hey guys, i notice a few months ago, that i had a couple of hoses unhooked around the PCSV (purge control solenoid valve)

I found a diagram, and i decided to hook them up the way the diagram tells...

Just want to make sure this is correct... these have been unhooked, god knows how long... i havent had any problem but i guess its better this way...

This is the diagram i found:

So i go ahead and zip tied that blue coupler , because everytime i move something it pops put...

Are the circled hoses suppose to be hooked up?

This is what it looks like finished... is this the correct way?

Thanks!

not to thread jack or anything, but after looking at this stock setup i've realized. What do people do with aftermarket fuel rails when venting the valve off the evaporation pipe?

Aftermarket fuel rails would delete that evaporation pipe (the bottom pipe on the stock fuel rails Part C in the diagram) and would keep the blue nipple exposed. The only reason i ask is because i have aftermarket fuel rails coming and have been wondering where to vent that off to. Do you just use an extended hose?

Take a line of fuel hose from the metal tube on the firewall, run it under the manifold and hook itup.

If you did that, then you would have both positive and negative pressure in the fuel tank... theoretically as much as positive pressure as what the turbo puts out. Pretty sure you don't want that

I'm trying to figure out how to delete the system properly - ideally a valve that only works when under negative pressure to deal with the fuel evap issue; I need to remove the solenoid.

Here is another option, it is free and avoids the hassle of the hoses coming off in the future. This is how the JDM ver7/8 STi cars are setup. We have lots of customer cars running this configuration without any CELs or negative side affects.

Is there somewhere to find the purpose of this hose routing? Emissions? If IA says it can go away without harm...what is subaru's reasoning for having it?

Would this configuration work for an 02 wrx?

I found my PC solenoid hoses disconnected and one of the hoses looks like it was cut in half..i bought the wrx right when a used newer ej20 was added to it.. Thanks in advance.

So just cap those off and eliminate the purge altogether?

Too complicated
Saving it for next time I break that stuff, though.

I did me setup/delete as described in post#12 and I noticed I was hitting 25lbs of boost instead oif my standard 20lbs...

Sounds like your valve might have been leaking

I agree, sounds like a boost leak was fixed in the process. It would be interesting to see if your AFR changed as well. With most boost leaks you will see a leaner condition during full throttle after fixing it since the air is no long escaping.

I've only got an 18lb spring in the wastegate, how is it possible that I am able to hit 25lbs?

18 is the base pressure / minimum pressure the car will run. The solenoid hoses are completely separate from the boost system.

If the wastegate lower nipple is hooked directly to the intake manifold then, in theory, it should peak right around 18psi. If you have a boost controller of some sort then that will increase your base pressure. The plausible causes:
1) boost solenoid or hoses were disturbed while doing working on the other hoses

2) if your boost solenoid or boost gauge tie into the intake manifold's front nipple then the readings 'could' change now that the hoses have been switched around, leading into #3

3) If the boost was set at 20psi using a boost controller and now runs 25psi after amending the hoses then there was most likely a boost leak where the purge valve attaches to the intake manifold since there are no barbs at either of those nipples.

If you have not already done so, put a zip tie on every hose that connects to the intake manifold as well as one at the BPV, wastegate, and boost controller.
