True. MAF Sensor on the 2008 WRX and STI are the same, but they are different than the WRX/STI/LGT of earlier years - smaller, fits into a smaller hole, and a totally different mounting flange. Stock intake on 2008 WRX/STI is also now 70mm diameter (like the LGT).

Did't see it but is it the same drop in filter as the LegGT and samr airbox to intake tube? Trying to see what I can carry over.

The filter may be the same. I am having Jeff check this morning to be sure. Also, the intake system is different. the MAF is different on the LGT vs. the 08+ WRX. Our intake kits will be out in later February if not sooner.
Be back later with more info! [email protected] |

Yeah, I knew about the intake as it says above my post!
Keep us updated as I'll be happy to carry my Blitz drop-in filter. I know even SPT has an intake and god knows what else. |

Rallitek confirmed they do but I had a warning from another member to avoid intakes, even drop-ins as these cars run pretty lean as is. (the STi)

Why? They have had TONS of issues on the other cars they made them for. I agree they should be one of if not THE choice for people since it is sold at the dealer. But they are NOT good choices for the STi and WRX. Ask any technician at a Subi dealer that has had to deal with CEL's after the sale and installation.
Just my two cents! [email protected] |

Hey there, just thought i'd add to the list of things that transfer over. I have an '08 wrx sedan 5spd, i got bored at work today and pulled my car in, out of curiosity thought the 08 trans mounts look exactly like the prior years... we had an SPT trany mount in stock and decided to try it out, and YES it is exactly the same and love the feel of the shift now!!

regardless, you bring up a good point, never get anything without first making sure that the product is both not going to cause issues in your car, and the part itself is quality. Last edited by samagon; 02-11-2008 at 05:53 PM. |

My contribution:
1. Titanium Shift Knob from 2005 STI short shifter fits on the 2008 STI standard shifter 2. Floor mats from 2005 STI do NOT fit 2008 STI |

umm, read posts 77 and 78. Cobb and a few others have dataloged the car and notices it ran prety lean from factory. I won't touch the filter till I get the AP.
Still, need to get the STi first! |

I was looking at the 2008 STi TMIC... I don't see why that won't fit a previous year subie... other than the passenger side bracket will definitely be different (which is fixable).
The turbo seems to be in the same spot, as does the throttlebody. I think that as long as you had all of the plumbing to go with the IC, it could swap down to a previous year subie w/o issue... Comments? -- Dave |

I think there will be a list of people who will want to get the take-off from the 08 sti, who have 08 wrx, for a cheap alternative to a bigger TMIC and easier access to bigger turbo options, and I would imagine for this reason that once people get modding on the 08s that the takeoff for an 08 sti will be a higher price than one for previous years, due to availability vs demand. but that is just speculation. |

I had no issues switching from an 04 to 07 STi intercooler...
As far as I could tell, they were the same. I really don't see any issue with me going to the 08 intercooler either, other than the passenger side mounting bracket, but I should be able to buy that from Subaru... -- Dave |

but using the sti tmic on a wrx required some fab work, that was what I was getting at. as for using the 08 sti tmic on a older wrx or even an sti? I haven't seen any dimensions on the 08 compared with the 04-07, so I can't say whether it would be worth the trial. |

38. Compared to 34 rows on the 04-07. I overlayed the two in photoshop and scaled them accordingly. The 2008 STi intercooler looks to be ~2in wider than previous years, or however wide 2 rows of fins are... (I'll measure and post up...). There are a few cutaways showing my older 04 intercooler so you can see where they line up/etc... -- Dave Last edited by AcquaCow; 02-19-2008 at 11:14 PM. |

If you look at the top center of my chop, you'll see the top endtank of the IC is in the same location for both years...same with the bottom and right side... The left side of the IC was just elongated a tad to fill the hoodscoop (FINALLY!). -- Dave |

Remember, that gap was was there to redirect cooler air down to the turbo.
