why would you want an aftermarket clutch? Stock ones are more than good enough..

Clutchnet.com can custom make a dual diaphram pressure plate good for 550 torque when used with a 6 puck. I like it, although it is a bit harsh on the flywheel....

its called the transmission forum for a reason.

And the most I would go on an n/a subaru is an ACT street or Exedy stage 1 clutch. yes, even modded ones.

...even on an SVX with a 5-speed swap? I'm looking at their Stage 2 pieces for torque handling.

Default spec clutches

all wrx clutches work perfectly with 2.5 na subarus. I have a 2.5i as a daily and put a SPEC stage 2 clutch and flywheel in it. It has been about a year and no problems at all.

My 274ft/lbs at the wheels is being held down fine by my ACT street clutch

only on the newer models do some share the same pull-type transmission. Most of the older n/a's use a push-type so the clutches are not interchangeable.

So we're clear: I'm not trying to contradict you. How long have those ft/lbs been held down fine, fwiw?

The torque capacity rating I've read for the Stage 1 clutches from Exedy and ACT is soundly below my 250ish (crank) ft/lbs, which is what raised my question. The Stage 2 gear looks to hold enough by the numbers.

My wallet surely prefers the Stage 1 merchandise, but I do drive the thing hard and autocross it, and changing a clutch isn't quite like changing an air filter.

A little over a year now, with about 7k miles with that power level, with a couple of autox and rallyx events thrown in. I had about another 8k miles and a few more events on the clutch before that but I was still relatively stock.

But clutch selection not only has to be about the power capacity, it also has to do with how you will be driving the car. If you're going to be launching pretty aggressively on a regular basis, you'll need the more aggressive clutch, at the expense of some civility in day to day use.

I'm pretty easy on the clutch to begin with, and I usually roll into the boost on my starts at events, plus I would rather have the clutch slip than something more expensive in the drivetrain break, so I chose stick with the clutch I have now.

if its just the clutch or material clutch wheel a wrx but if its the pressure plate and what not a wrx's is totally different and yeah ACT sells one even a stage 2 if your going force induction then go with a stage 2 its when you get to double clutch's that your right foot maybe get a work out lol but you'll be fine with a stage 1 or 2 yes the stock is an EXEDY but can wear quickly with power or even power with slippage...
