Oh man thats lame! I've worried about this locally as well, there's really only one convenient station nearby to fill up on E85... if they stopped carrying it then that would really change things. Has anyone else seen E85 in their area come and go, or does it usually stick around?

Our local market is controlled by one station chain. They still have it, but reduced the number of stations that do back when the subsidy ran out I'm not sure if they plan to make any more changes or not. I feel bad now that I don't daily drive my E85 car. Save the ethanol!

Yeah thats what I have been afraid of with the subsidy expiring.

Be careful to not let your car sit with E85 in it for too long, it can start to create issues with corrosion in your fuel system and especially in your injectors. Either park the car with normal gasoline in it, or you can pickle your injectors by doing the following:

The E85 around here is pretty much only available at one major chain (Kum & Go) but they seem to be growing faster than any other chain and their new stations they keep building (or remodeling) all get E85 and E30 at 8 out of 10 pumps. The other two have diesel instead of E85. They are even retrofitting some of their old stations with E85 pumps. They believe it is the future and it seems to be selling well enough around here for them to keep investing in it.

Our other primary station in the area (Quik Trip) thinks the opposite. They think E85 is a fad and auto diesel is the future so they keep adding diesel pumps to their stations. I've sent them a few nasty emails because I was a loyal customer of theirs since I could drive and I really like their stations better but they refuse to get E85.

Around here the distributors also seem to be learning that customers are now mostly educated enough on E85 to know that if the price of it isn't quite a bit lower than gasoline, its not worth running in their FFVs so the price of E85 seems to hang pretty low around here compared to other markets that I've seen.

The map shows some near Salt Lake City, are you pretty far from there?

that would be cool, but it's up to the new owner. IF they even choose us to do the work.

Well depending on heat and humidity, E85 can start to absorb water quickly enough to cause corrosion in a matter of weeks if the car sits. Its difficult to say for sure but I would try not to let the car sit for more than a couple weeks at a time with E85 in the tank. If the car is going to sit, the best thing to do is to flush the ethanol out of your system and keep gasoline in there instead, or follow the instructions in the image that I posted to remove and clean the injectors.

Its possible you'll be ok letting the car sit longer than that with E85 in the tank but its really not worth the risk.

What clutch did you go with? Did you upgrade as a preventive thing or were you needing a new clutch?

I'm at 10,000 miles on E85 on the stock clutch (21,000 overall) and haven't had mine slip yet but I can feel it getting a little tired so I'm starting to shop around.

How do you like what you went with?

I'm on the stock turbo making 357/400 Not sure what your setup is but for me, I went with the comp clutch stage 2. In the beginning it sucks ass but after break in it has just like stock engagement and Super daily-able. Pedal feel is just tiny bit harder than stock but you get used to it pretty fast. I'm really happy with it. I did it more of a preventable thing as my stock clutch had 12k On it only.

I'm on the stock turbo as well for now, power is around 360/430. Like I said, my clutch hasn't slipped yet but when trying to shift quickly, its a little slow to grab in the next gear so that's mainly why I'm looking to upgrade. I'm probably going to upgrade to a little bigger turbo eventually to something that maintains near stock turbo spool but holds more for a flatter powerband so I shouldn't need a really strong clutch yet.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep this clutch on my radar.

My XTI made 360/ 450 on e85 with the vf48 and stock EJ255. My stock STI clutch hated all that torque. My clutch was in great shape but the stock sti clutch can only handle < 400 WTQ. I'm running the ACT XT SS clutch now and it's a great clutch very street friendly and handles my current 540/ 490 power level very well!!

I really liked the Southbend Stage 2 Endurance clutch when I tried it. It held quite a bit of power, and felt the same or maybe slightly softer pedal effort than stock. Most recently I used the ACT XT 6-puck sprung clutch, and I really liked that. The pedal effort is a bit stiffer, but nothing horrible by any means. It held my power without issues. From what I have seen, this clutch and a couple of others rated to about the same is about the highest you can get without going dual or triple disc.
