It's do-able.. just needs some fiberglass work!!

Stress cut the front/rear ZS bumpers and reglass them into the APR.. pretty simple actually

Would you have any interest in swapping headlights? I am the guy who bought your door cards and sills through Karlton.

This is sad on so many levels. The car was really nice and I know a couple peeple who put a lot of work in to this. As a builder myself its great to get cars like this and get to work on them but then they get parted out and all that hard work is totally undone.. People like you make the world go around. You spend money on parts and labor and keep shops alive and the end product is a compilation of your vision and the hard work of you and the others involved. Its sad when projects like this get parted out because all that hard work, problem solving, inovtion and imagination to make those parts or fit them to other parts just gets turned in to a pricetag as the feeding frenzy of people buy up all your stuff. Seems like it would be better to sell the car as a whole so the lucky new owner could feel and expereince all that collective hard work...

Not saying there is anything wrong with what you're doing but I think sometimes people just look at cars and part outs as dollar signs when this project was so much more. Its you, its the people that helped you take something anyone can buy and turned it into something that anyone would kill just to get a piEce of it to absorb its power...

Good luck with the new project I hope in the end you will not regret the choice to kill off this car. Most of the guys I know that do these types of builds always regret parting out a little..

Johann

I completely agree with everything you said! ^^^

However, when you build a car to this level (which, Johann I know you have done) it comes a time when you cannot do anymore. People lose interest in the platform of which they are building after 2 or 3 rebuilds.. I do atleast.. I could drop an LS9 into it, would be fun.. I built the car to win shows and grace the cover of magazines.. With that being said, 4 mag covers and multiple BIS wins, we have done what I set out to do! Dumping the amount of money I have done, just to watch it sit pretty in the garage eventually will eat at you.

Also, with the amount of modifications done things become unreliable, not comfortable to drive, scared to scratch it, etc..

Main thing for me is the "bored" factor.. I need a new project/weekend car I can truly enjoy by driving it! the GTR is just that vehicle for me and I'm sure Mike and I will be scratching our heads eventually on how to get something to fit in the bay/fab a bracket to make something work in the Nissan

Thanks Johann and everyone that has been influential in this build! On to bigger and better things.. All I can promise is the new project will be just as nutty and will make twice the power my Subaru did!! I will say that I was in tears last night as I was pulling the motor out..

both of the above statements are so true. the good/bad/ugly of having a car like that.

Sad to see this car go also (we never got to compete!).

You'll always be a little sad about it in some way I bet, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the hell out of that GTR

Chris,

I don't blame you man. Most of the fun is the build and when everything gets done...it feels like a part of the car experience is missing. While you could have sold the car off whole...I seriously doubt you would have gotten what it is worth and it would have taken forever to find a buyer. The GT-R needs to get the reinvestment for sure. I have been driving several around the past couple weeks from stock 2013 to an insanely modded 2009. That platform has so much potential all the way to a 1,257whp version I rode in that does 60-130mph in 3.7 seconds!

I am honestly to the point that if we can't have a second kid...the Subaru will be up for sale for a GT-R as the fun car. While it doesn't have the same driver input feel the Subaru has...all of that goes out the window when you hit the gas or get on the track. There isn't another car in the world right now that can be that fast and still comfortable to go to the grocery store again. If you ever get a build thread going for that car on other forums...let me know.

This is why you should drive it at the track then you wouldn't be bored of looking at it in a garage!
Showcars are gay, racecars are fun. no disrespect to anyone.
Hopefully you will enjoy your next toy at the track and have fun on the street. I hope you stay in the Subaru family and build a BRZ. the GTR is nice but for the price tag i'd rather have a used GT3, 360 or Lambo with the amount of mod the GTR is begging for and you will do you could grab a GT3 and build a BRZ
