So my Warrenty Debacle continues...
Have an 04' STI that burned 3.5qts of oil in just under 3k. I had checked it a few times and it was at an ok level, oil pressure never dropped. And it spun rod bearings.
Subaru Warranty is trying to tell me that it is common to burn 1qt of oil every 1000 miles, and thats why they aren't covering it since they can't find anything causing it. I am pretty sure that is bull****, no engine that is functioning correctly, that they have recorded changing the oil in, should ever burn that much oil every 1k miles. Hell I have worked with Muscle cars and Jeeps that eat oil like candy, and they never burned more then maybe 1.5qts max in 3k. I am going to call their main line later today and get into it with them. If others have seen the same problem with burning oil, what caused it? I was told the 04s are known to have a common problem of burning excessive oil and should be repaired. Soooo pissed,

Iono man unless you were leaking hardocre you dont just burn 3.5 qts of oil.. And if you did it wouldnt be instant it would be over time.. Did you not check your oil for like 2 weeks or something? What mods did you have? The 04 burning oil problem is less than a qt over 3k miles, not 3.5...

gormonk sais **** steven jory....... before i even owned a subaru i was trying to pick up an '05 wagon.
i called them and they said they have one. when i went down there some douche bag said that they had sold it. then he just walked away. no offering to show me a different one or anything. so i walked up to another salesman who was smoking a cigarette. he told me that theyre werent any more..... (other than the 2 sitting on there front lot) just by dealing with the sales people there i wouldnt ever take any car there for service. and no this isnt because i work at avondale. i have talked **** about steven jory since i first dealt with them. good luck with them dude. hopefully there sales dept is no reflection of there service dept. again that was gormonk posting under my name Last edited by dozer54321; 12-04-2007 at 03:07 PM. |

That is good to here. Once I talk to SOA today I will maybe talk to him and see what he says. I have a question about the ringland and turbo seal.

That is nuts on the oil consumption, I use penzoil plat. 10w30, my car doesn't burn hardly anything ... when I take my car in for the 3k oil change, its still on the full mark sorry to hear about your woes!!!

LGTs dont really have problems with oil consumption... just blown out headlight bulbs and faulty injectors.

the older 2.5 engines had some internal oil leaks with head gaskets, hope that's not the problem. how does your coolant smell?

you may also want to check the oil pick up tube.... a couple have been cracking and causing poor oil delivery. Don't know what to say about the consumption. All I can say is that I feel your pain and went through something similar with my 06sti
