I have the original remote start, there is a separate key fob the the remote start. You need to use the keyless entry that is on the main key to open the doors.

I'm going to sound rude, but I have to ask:

Why do you think that people want to watch 30 minutes of you driving around? Are these videos informative in some way that I'm not savvy enough to catch?

I leave 30min of unedited driving because I won't bother to waste my time to edit it. I have appreciation on both way. I actually watched someone else driving the manual one on the road so why not put one using CVT.

Some have interest how the CVT run some not & how the Eco display function on the road. Although it is there & I'm not forcing anyone to watch it.

It's uninteresting because you own the car already.

Has anyone self-installed their remote starter? The instructions do not seem too bad except all the warnings about damaging the knee or curtain airbags. The dealer's service department said it would be $50 to program it for me.

I installed mine. Not hard to do but you need the Subaru Select Monitor to program it. Literally took my friend 5 mins to activate.

Yes that is normal. That locking mechanism prevents the driver from shifting into reverse while the car is in motion.

Hey guys, first time poster here. I'm in need of a new car and have narrowed it down to the Impreza Sport (mt) vs the Mazda 3 Touring (mt). My question for you guys was, does the Sport have any performance oriented features that the standard Premium or base model lack that I should know about? I'm coming off an 03 outback so in that respect this little thing will probably perform better in every aspect, I realize that much. Thanks!

No change in performance. A small increase in ground clearance on the sport model, the rest is just a trim package different paint options. However, if you look into the xv, you get the same engine but a towing capacity of 1500lbs...not that its much of a performance upgrade

I heard the xv has reinforced suspension, stiffer springs and stiffened chassis. Is this something that is really relevant in the real world when it comes to performance and durability?

XV has much higher ride than impreza sport, also has wider tires and more exterior hard plastic trim. It seems its engineered for more rugged activity as opposed to impreza being based around fuel efficiency. Performance-wise i doubt much difference then just aerodynamics better in impreza?

Sure. However, I guess it depends on what kind of performance you are looking for. The impreza and xv were not designed with speed in mind, they're gas-sipping awd vehicles. I would think the reinforcement will make the vehicle more "durable" but as far as perforce goes, it all depends on the flavor you're looking for. My choice is the xv, for its mpg and overall utility. The difference in price betweenn the xv and the impreza seems worthwhile.

I went to get an oil change done on my impreza today at the dealership and a different oil filter was put on. The last oil change I had done had the black part 15208AA160 oil filter put on. But this time there was a blue part number 15208AA15A oil filter put on. The guy at the dealership said this is the new oil filter that is being put on my car. Does anyone have any info why they were using the black roki filters at first but now switched over to the blue ones again. My dealer says they do not offer the 15208AA160 filter anymore.

I'm waiting for the call from my dealer to pick up my Sport Premium, my brother just bought a similiarly-equipped 2012 Mazda3 about a month ago. The big deciding factors for my choice were:
-The Mazda only having two stars for side impact for the rear passengers
-Impreza's cabin feeling much more spacious:
*Mazda3's roof was too low by ~1"
*Mazda3 side-to-side room for front passengers was not impressive
*Impreza had 4"+ more rear passenger legroom than the Mazda3
-Impreza having AWD

My girlfriend and I agreed the Mazda felt like it had more pep and more fun to drive (we were testing automatics/CVTs) and the price was definitely lower (for a 2012; the dealer had 5 in the configuration we were interested in so he was looking to dump them cheap), while the Impreza was much more comfortable. But we're ~30 and agree baby seats are likely within the lifetime of this car, so our priorities may be different than yours.

I'm calling foul ball. It looks to me like the blue filter is for the Legacy and Outback:

I actually just got off the phone with Subaru of America and the man I spoke with on the phone told me that the original part number has been superseded by the new part number on the oil filter that is currently installed on my car. Kind of like how on past impreza models that used the black filter were replaced with the blue can fram made part numbers.

I'm guessing if that statement came right from Subaru of America it's gotta be right?
